I meant a modern power conference, but yea you are right. I guess 40 years ago is enough time for an old program to with and die.

I don’t think so, the big 12 is saturated with Texas programs and they are not relevant enough to garner much attention from the other big conferences.

I grew up a NY Giants football fan, SF Giants baseball fan, Sixers BB fan, Rangers and then Flyers in hockey.  The Sixers game me a title in, I think, '67 and then in 83 maybe.  The Flyers got 2 I believe in the early 70s.  The baseball Giants didn't win in my lifetime until 2010 and the NY Giants had a few bright moments but overall have been a horrible franchise to follow.  So watching USF have a couple of good years and then take a downturn isn't anything new to me either.
