Your crazy, ND to the BE...I have aspirations for the program/conference, but lets not get out of hand.

Army/Navy have stated they will not join a conference.

As for Baylor, that may be true, but when it came to vote in 2002 to keep Baylor or get rid of them for Arkansas the Big 12 chose to keep Baylor to keep their academic levels up.

I think it would be good for USF to have a "natural" rival in the conference.

Navy and Army should stay independent.

ND and PSU would be great, but not realistic.

Memphis is too far west and ECU gets the scraps in the Carolinas.

I think UCF is making the investments needed for BE facilities.......imho.

Baylor is in the Big 12 because the governor of Texas at the time of conference alignment was a Baylor alum. It had more to do with politics than academics. Similar to V Tech with Virginia during ACC raid. Governor strong armed the conference.

BE should get Army/Navy to split a spot. Each could play 4 teams a year. More prestige.

Or they should tell ND to join for FB or take all of their other teams to the Ohio Valley conference. I don't know why they roll over for ND. They do absolutely nothing for this conference. They could come up with a compromise so they keep all of their TV money, etc.

The ultimatum for Notre Dame is a bad move.  If you forced Notre Dame to commit to an all or nothing choice, they would take nothing.  Their football independence is far more important to them than Olympic sport membership.

Besides, the Big 10 would welcome the ND Olympic sports with open arms -- the Irish would not have to play in the Ohio Valley conference.

The only thing that would make ND even consider joining a conference would be if they have trouble getting an at-large birth in the BCS over a period of time even if they are eligible.  It could happen this year ... the BCS could select Ohio State and VT - both will probably finish ahead of ND in the BC... too many Gator or Cotton or Insight bowls could be enough to spur them to reconsider their position.

It's almost a 'when hell freezes over' proposition.

We would be the logical choice.  I have been hearing some good things lately.

With all that is happening on our campus and academically, how could anyone deny UCF a place at the table?  Yes, we did NOT deserve it two years ago.  But in two years, things will be very different.

Add in that we would already beat most of the current conference in Football already and you can see why the NBE will come calling.

Sorry.

Way to muck up an otherwise rational post with such stupidity ....

BTW, Mtneer, if you didn't shut off Guest posting you're going to get a skewed result. Kanigits are obsessed with us and will be attracted to this like flies on crap ...

I like the following Scenario and additions, the football teams break off and form  a new conference, with respect to old members we agree some type of olympic sports continued play for x # of years... The new conference, "United 12" breaks into conferences this way

North

UConn

Pitt

Cincy

Syracuse

WVU

Marshall

South

ECU

UCF

USF

Rutgers

Lville

Memphis

Each team plays 5 teams from their conference plus 3 others... Imagine the following Scenario... Home game Rutgers, Lville, Memphis, ECU....Away Games UCF, Lville, Marshall, and Pitt... Plus four other OOC games..

Say what you want we add ecu, marshall, memphis, and ucf and we get pretty close to other conferences..... Marshall will be back and ucf is getting better

Okay ND fans here's a scenario for you to...

North

UConn

Pitt

Cincy

ND

WVU

South

ECU

UCF

USF

Rutgers

Lville

Syracuse

11 team conference with north South winners playing for BCS title,  each year ND has to play only 4 teams in the north (the four teams rotate each year... The South conference plays 5 of their own plus 3 others... the north plays 4 in the north and 4 others... The South winner is team with best record... The North is team with best winning percentage... There it is folks ND gets its cake and eats it and We get ND in Big East....  thank You Very Much!

I realize ND would not join. If they don't want to join this conference in football then I say get rid of their other sports. They don't want to do us any favors why should we want to help them out.

Army/Navy would only be partial members. And they would be joining the BE. Not CUSA or a lesser conference. I bet they would strongly consider it if the appropriate compromises were made. They could be football only members and play only 4 conference games . They would get a split of money and they play alot of these teams anyway. We could make it hard for them to pass up.

Not sure on the Baylor vote but I think that was just a vote of confidence after the basketball issues. There are 3 other Texas teams to back them and they would not have gone after an SEC team without their approval. I don't think the vote was "Baylor out - Arkansas in" per se.

The only other conferences we'd be closer to are the MAC and CUSA. We have an image problem already. Adding all of these teams would only make it worse.

Maybe add one of them.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
