I had moved out of state at the time so never really had the skinny on what happened. Skippy took the program to a low we had never experienced and the Big East was splintering while Dougie and Judy spun around with their thumbs up their ass. In the end not sure if things would have been any different if CJL stuck around but I guarantee one thing and that is we never would have sunk to the depths that we have experienced over the past decade if he was still at the helm. But the non-whales connected with Leavitt. He had fans. His passion was contagious. More importantly, anyone with any sense knew that the gutting of the program would harm the story and the upward arc. It did. And we are there still. Still if Skippy had won there would not have been an exodus...it’s difficult to decouple the two in my opinion. I honestly don’t remember people leaving for the sole reason CJL left. I think many were willing to give Skippy a shot. But when he failed everyone ran. Edited August 19, 2020 by NewEnglandBull

It was gone before Fall. It was a matter of truth and integrity.

The only thing we say more than next season is this next coach is going to be the one that makes us forget all of these decades of pain but don’t worry I’m sure we are due to finally get over that plateau like we were promised, coach x has what it takes because of all of that y factor that was obviously missing from coach z.
