He said that his policy is that if you commit then you are committed...period. No more visits. If you commit then take a visit somewhere else then he will pull the scholarship. He compared it to getting engaged then dating other people up to your wedding day.

I agree with the policy, but i can see where it will be difficult due to these kids being young and easily influenced.

I like this approach. It can show that a kid wants to be here and that they have their head screwed on right.

I have no problem with this approach.

Many students have a difficult time with "commitment."  If we are building the family atmosphere, the students who just want to travel around and get free stuff are more into themselves.

That being said, coaches should fully vet their offers.  Don't just offer 500 scholarships if the coaching staff isn't "committed."

Goes both ways...

Thing is, it's not like he's rescinding offers if kids still want to visit elsewhere before committing. Probably just tells them that the offer will still stand as long as we have an opening.

That's my take on it also.

His USCe offer came in this morning. It sounds like the Gamecocks are expecting to miss on one of their big DE targets

I'd rather go with a program that wants me instead of a school choosing me because their first choice fell through, but that's just me....maybe he just really wanted to go to South Carolina....

That's gotta sting a little worse than normal to CJS .... but maybe also a good illustration of what he's working against here
