Grothe has been fighting Gayturd fans on Twitter, love it.

That kid was a GD Baller.  I miss him and those days.

I'm off to watch some Matt Grothe highlights on youtube....

The ironic thing is his backup, Gregory, was arguably just as capable of a QB.

I wish we had two similarly talented quarterbacks again... where they were both good... instead of the mess we have now.

+1. There is some pure gold in this thread. I love the vintage ones.

MG is a player with a lot of gridiron heart.  Don't know him personally from Fred to Sally, but the moment he stepped on that football field I got this great feeling that he is going to leave everything on that turf.  Never seen him yell at his teammates for mistakes nor have I ever seen try to motivate them through words alone, but rather his play on the field fired everybody up more than any other QB that has gone through this program.

I wanted to cry when he hurt his knee.  Dang, we just need a few of those guys around the talent that we have today.  We would be talking about something else for once.  Haven't seen a leader like MG since he played, IMHO.

Grothe and Daniels are top 5 in total yards in the history of the Big East, going back to the Miami, BC and VT days.

I miss Grothe, I loved the guy and his commitment on the field

It didn't matter who he was playing against, he came in with the expectation he was going to win it, and he was going to do anything he could to win it

Pure eff'n warrior, I loved watching him play.

I'll eat my crow again. Grothe ended up being one of the top three QB's to play here and put our school on the map due to his performances in big games. My apologies Flip Flop. Wonder who my sources was back then? It was either a WR or a QB, although it could have possibly been an assistant coach. Sometimes being wrong isn't so bad.

You probably relied upon that **** snot Colby Erskin who I wouldn't give taint sweat to if he was dying of thirst.

Never met Colby Erskin - or at least it doesn't stick out in my mind.

I'm happy to say I was on the Grothe bandwagon from the time of his recruitment.
