Dear Matt,

I've been a big bulls fan ever since their conception and was very pleased in the play of the quarterback that put us on the map, Marquel Blackwell.  However, ever since his departure, we haven't had solid quarterback play, and hence our offense has been inefficient.  Relying on trick plays and strong running games, our offenses have been one-dimensional.  From what I've been told, you are the one that could very well usher us into BCS glory.  If taking our lumps this year and having you redshirt in order for the future success of our program is necessary, than we'll gladly accept that sacrifice because a good quarterback is worth the wait.  Please study and memorize your playbook, eat well, and get good grades in the classroom.    The Bullsnation is behind you Matt, and we can't wait until you're taking snaps from center.  Good luck and we can't wait to see you in 2006.

Love,

USF Fans

but if they start pj over you next year

i would understand if you did

Are you kidding?  PJ will be a senior next year.  Grothe needs at least one year on the bench, getting into a few series here and there in order to be ready.  He'll be a Redshirt Freshman.   He should sit behind PJ and CD at least next year, if not the next two years.  We'd love to see a Reshirt Sophmore or Junior who is really ready to play when his time comes.  That's how big time programs work.

Chris Leak started nine game as a TRUE freshman.  If Grothe can't beat out PJ next year, we are in trouble.

Let the coaches decide who's best after spring practice.  There's a lot of time between now and then and things can change drastically.

MG has been on campus for 3 months and probably hasn't had a shot with the ones.  Give him from now until then to get bigger, stronger and more knowledgable of the offense.

we are not yet a bigtime program, we need a warm body that can throw a pass...any warm body!

if the kid shows promise roll him out there to get the experience, it will make us instantly better!
