If we lose in the first game we essentially paid $50k for one more week of practice and one game without really getting tourny experience. For me this only works if we get past the first round.

We should win easily.

Did someone say we play Utah Valley State if we beat SB?  That will be something for me.  UVU features a kid I know from youth basketball days here in AZ.

Not to mention Grand Canyon University is in it too.

Ya. And a loss to Stony Brook could hurt all the emotional progress the team has made. This seems like a very low RoI endeavor. Had we not limped to the finish line I might be more up for it. After the last few games I just see the horrible specter of a loss to Stony Brook ending the season. Plus a $50k bill. Hope we sell enough seats to cover that.

UCF fan here. Don't be ashamed of playing in this so-called "garbage" tournament. The players and coaches worked their tails off, you guys won 19 games and at the end of the day, screw the detractors if they don't like it. If you are able to win the tournament, hang a banner - you earned it.

Outside of when you guys play us, I'll cheer for American teams to do well. Now WVU being in this despite losing 20 games ? That's a different story.

To split even you'd have to sell two thousand tickets at 25 dollars a piece. When including concessions and stuff, I suppose it is doable - even after you pay the arena staff, etc...

2000 seems doable. I'm just not sure what the cost of opening the Sun Dome for a game is. I'd like to think we'd sell 3K + and not lose money but who knows.

Thankfully, Coach Gregory doesn't have the same opinion.

This team is ahead of schedule and having the opportunity to play more games in order to improve should be seen as a good thing.

You and I agree on a lot.  This is not one of those times.

I trust CBG knows and understands far more than me about the game and how / why this helps us.

Go Bulls!

I think tickets are only $17 and $12.  That just doubled your break even calculation.

true-- but any money raised from hosting should lessen the feeling of a pay to play tournament. If the championship is televised-- there must be some sort of money in that for the teams playing.

Either way-- it would be nice to see the guys do well in this. But I have trouble thinking they aren't just exhausted from the long season. We'll see (or won't-- not sure how we get to watch this other than attending).

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
