Kind of like our MBB program in the years preceding CBG ..... so perfect way to put those demons finally to rest. Plus, if it’s good enough for Huggy, it’s good enough for me.

The one thing I don't like about this tournament is them putting a well below .500 West Virginia team in.  But it is what it is, and it is a Big 12 team that adds to the flavor.

Looking at some of the teams with winning records WVU could still win this tournament

It is an invitational. It is not based purely on merit. I am quite honestly more surprised that WVU accepted the invite. They are the first power conference team to play in the CBI in years. Would have actually been nice to have a few other power conference teams in there to raise the profile of the tournament.

This time of the year their fans look for any excuse to burn an old couch to celebrate.

They are probably just happy to be invited to any tourney considering their record.  And yes they certainly can win this tournament just as we could.

It would be nice to make a run and give the guys a taste of tourney success - which could help them down the road.  These are teams we can be competitive with and beat, so hoping for the best.

Thankfully, Coach Gregory doesn't have the same opinion.

This team is ahead of schedule and having the opportunity to play more games in order to improve should be seen as a good thing.

It’s a good dry run for next year, and years to come .....

If we lose in the first game we essentially paid $50k for one more week of practice and one game without really getting tourny experience. For me this only works if we get past the first round.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
