This belief that having a good season and losing the coach responsible for that success is a sustainable model.  It is not.

Need to find a good coach and hold on to him by properly marketing the program, growing the fan base, the facilities and the money coming in.

Unfortunately we have not done that in that past 20 years.  We've actually slid backwards and there doesn't appear to be the commitment to the program to get to that point anytime soon. There is also something to be said for the current state of college football and the amount of movement there is from year to year.  There seems to always be a grass is greener mentality.  With that people are always going to look to better themselves and their opportunity aka make more dollars.

So is it safe to say that what Willie said about there not appearing to be a plan in place when we got to #2 was fairly accurate?

I'd say the powers that be were far less interested in this program growing than the people working their tail off every day to grow it
