meh, Lakeland is kind of Brandonish itself

As a Lakeland native, I would have to respectfully disagree.

Not showing up on GoUSFBulls.com as a signee yet. Anybody have an idea why. Do Preferred Walk-Ons sign anything?

This really gives you an idea of how far we've fallen,

no recruit in our all-time top 10 post-2012.

Lots of underachievers and outright busts in the top 10. Also notice that 40% of the players are JUCO. We recruited "on the edge" a lot more back then.

  1. Giddens: Underachieved
  2. JPP: Overachieved (mostly in the NFL)
  3. Mitchell: Bust (had potential but was stupid off the field)
  4. Price: Underachieved
  5. Chandler: "OK"
  6. Montgomery: Bust (transferred to mighty Iowa St and then even mightier Toledo)
  7. Ford: Bust (had a few fluke amazing games)
  8. Bedford: "OK"
  9. Battles: Bust
  10. Stirrups: Bust

The sentiment may not be popular but these kids are rated highly because our program was rated more highly and in a better conference. That's all these services do. They're a self fulfilling prophecy with huge trailing returns in order for a change to happen.

For example, Clemson would not have a badly rated class next season no matter what, because they are perceived as a good recruiting team in a power conference. Dabo could literally go bat **** insane and recruit total trash and they'd still get a bunch of 4/5 stars. It'd take at least a year or two of recruiting showing no results post-signing day for that perception - and the ratings associated with future classes - to change.

That said, we now have 6 QBs and signed barely any DL/LB which are critical holes? I thought CCS was supposed to be a great recruiter and defensive minded?

In a couple years maybe the recruiting services will figure out what we already have - Charlie is past his prime.

We need McDuffie.

Glad we got edge rushers but no great DT prospect.  That's pretty sad we have a history of pretty good interior lineman.

CJL always recruited some mean defensive players, the current state of USF football is sad.

Coming into this class I thought we needed 2-3 big DT's. So far we have 0. I wonder if they are going to continue playing DE's at DT...230 lb guys on the interior does not seem like a good way to defend the run but correct me if I'm wrong.

We are outsized compared Memphis, Cincy, even UCF by a lesser extent.  It's very sad.
