So then he does have something to do with the offense?

Something that can easily be changed with hiring another OC who runs a faster-paced outside zone offense while remaining as Head Coach, yes.

Hence an answer to this post:

I'm just curious about the Gilbert has to go mentality if we're ok with CCS staying.  What makes anyone think that will change things?

I don't know,

seems like your post says that "firing Gilbert and keeping Strong won't change anything," right?

However, if Strong takes a page out of Taggart's book and changes his preference of offense to something quicker,

aka firing Gilbert, hiring another OC, and staying Head Coach then it will change things, contrary to your post. So...

Correct me if I'm wrong.

HC influences the offense.  Yes or no?

We were up tempo. The issue was play calling which strong has nothing to do with.

The problem is we are ultra conservative and play not to lose.  That's on the HC

You are just going to have to accept the fact that strong dictates the offense, even though there is no evidence to support that claim.

Yep, nevermind.

Nothing will change.

Not even if he hired Kliff Kingsbury and his playbook.

Absolutely nothing would've changed offensively.

Simple answer:

if he hires another OC,

yes, it will change things.

"Does the HC have anything to do with the offense though?!?!?"

Yes,

therefore, if he hires someone else,

it. Will. Change. Things.

It only changes if he hires an OC that will open up the offense and he allows that to happen.  He's had 3 OCs so far ....  he very well might

You're right.  HC's have nothing to do with how an offense is run. Those OCs are hired completely independently and do their own thing with zero regard for what the HC wants done.  Hell we should eliminate the HC position and just hire OCs, DC's and a STC and save the university some money.  Maybe we can get that IPF built sometime this century.

@Roaming Bull POPCORN!  Quick!

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
