I’m going to pull the inside information card here. I was talking to a former player (started every game on offense 2016-2017)  a week or so ago and execution/coaching came up. His exact words were, “If you’re 21 years old and can’t catch a football, that’s not coaching. You suck.”

If I'm a coach, I don't run a play that allows a ball to be thrown to a guy who can't catch (or improve his abilities with coaching and practice).

His analogy, knowing I was more of a baseball guy, was imagine you have a shortstop that makes 35 errors one season. You might be able to coach him up and next season he only makes 30. That’s still bad. It’s less bad, but still bad. Also, he might still be the best SS on your roster.

Unfortunately, I did not get to quiz him on the HB Dive. We only touched on execution. Leadership. And CWT v. CCS coaching styles.
