When it comes to who I root for-- I have two rules.

1- Always root for whatever will help the Bulls either right now or in the near future (takes into consideration conference stuff etc). I don't get wrapped up in wanting state teams to lose because.....

2- who I root for has absolutely ZERO impact on the actual games being played short of "making a lot of noise" at a game itself.

But I get what you guys are saying and why you do what you do.

This. We need to take over Tampa. If we move up and they all move down that obviously helps us. I hated always hearing about other in state schools while living in Tampa.

GT has that same problem here in Atlanta...

This is how I thought pre 1996-1997. Back in the 80's and early nineties with no dog in the hunt I would root as a Florida football fan for whatever Florida team had the best national advantage. Once USF had a football team my thinking changed to everybody except USF must lose.
