I for one am a huge fan of the early signing period.. I think there are probably at least 3 recruits who may not have lasted until Feb. I’ve seen Landry sports and 24-7 note that it’s a failure. Maybe only to the bigger schools who come in at the end and won’t get than luxury. Curious on everybodies thoughts

There was some discussion about that in this thread.

The recruiting sites don’t like it because it waters down their presence and takes away from their big day. Screw’um

Exactly. Many of the big name schools, with large paying fan bases, will have signed just about their entire class in December and they won't have that much to discuss between now and February.

Find that hard to believe.

This will be the new day or they will leave a couple spots for targets in feb.

But it does decrease their exposure as more people are tuned into bowl games and the NFL season. In the past they had this all to themselves...no longer the case so exposure is reduced now and will be in the future if this is the new day.

Doesn’t make sense to me. It just puts more pressure on the coaches and the staffs. It just makes the Bowls that much more meaningless.

Which matters more.....recruiting or winning the Bowl game?

can you imagine if the NFL had the draft during the playoffs?

They need to let the coaches coach during the season. Limit access to hiring coaches from other schools until AFTER the national championship game. Give everyone 4 weeks to figure out their coaching situation, hire their staffs, then another month to signing day. College football functioned just fine for a century without early enrollees.

Honestly, though, outside of 3 games, can they really be any more meaningless ....

Huh?

They're pretty meaningful to the players and fans (outside of SMU, that is...)

Who cares if they are meaningful or not? It’s football!!! Hell, would you rather watch downhill skiing or some boring NBA crap? More bowls the better...if you don’t like them, don’t watch them.
