ESPN President John Skipper announced Wednesday morning the network will be terminating approximately 150 employees, bringing the total number of employees the network has let go in 2017 to about 250.

Of the latest round of layoffs, Skipper stated, "We appreciate their contributions, and will assist them as much as possible in this difficult moment with severance, a 2017 bonus, the continuation of health benefits and outplacement services."

Holy crap!!  I know it won't happen, but what if ESPN had to file bankruptcy?  How does that effect contracts?

ESPN looks to be in quite a bit of trouble. If we're getting the 8-10M a year contract we want, it won't be from them. They way overpaid for too many rights.

That said declaring bankruptcy isn't likely unless they're faced with no other choice. Disney has other profitable areas that can help carry them until they can crack down on the overpayments.

I feel bad for the employees, but ESPN can go away for all I care.  I'm still mad about the Big East manipulation.
