We're ahead in coaches/AP because we started ranked and the inertia factor is very heavy in the human polls.

That would be made even clearer if they had beaten GT (#27 in Massey), as scheduled.

I don't doubt that one bit, but I'm having a hard time coming up with a G5 team in recent years that earned anything more than an 8-10 ranking. You are probably correct, but not solely because the committee won't allow it to happen. It's more because the way the football system is set up. The G5 schools can't get home and home series with the top ranked schools. THAT is the biggest obstacle and that has nothing to do with the committee. So, the system is built on keeping the SOS of the G5 teams so weak, that it's nearly impossible to get enough "fair" opportunities to build up the required resume . Theoretically, a G5 team could play a couple of payday games on the road at two top ranked schools and win. But, the rest of their G5 schedule might well pull their SOS down far enough to keep them from getting a "justified" top 5 ranking by the committee. I'm also fairly certain that there is at least some "inherent P5 bias" on the committee as well, but I don't believe they would disregard some G5 school who OBVIOUSLY deserved a top 5 ranking.
