IMO tonight's call was BS

Completely agree.  He lead with his hands on the chest with a push. Yes the helmet clipped his chin area, clearly not intentional ( I know that is not the rule), but it was only because he was falling forward with the push.

It was an illegal hit.

The one call I thought was BS was when Sawtelle bodyslammed the kid. Only reason I can think to call a penalty is if the whistle blew, but since their runer still was moving forward. So either way he was screwed

I thought the official said it was after the play .... which means it was a **** quick whistle.

Just got to that point in the game and the whistle was blown after the Illini hit the ground .... by the same clown who threw the flag.

This is the Sawtelle play, right?

Didf the ref say the penalty was specifically for AFTER the whistle?

At the time, as soon as I saw Sawtelle lifting the player upward, I said, "here comes a flag."

Pretty sure the flag was for the tackle DURING the play.

Definitely said after the play and if it was during the play, the penalties would have offset each other, which they didn't ..

26 penalties in the first half and 5 in the second half between the two teams are a problem with the  refs not the teams.  Did getting yelled at during halftime suddenly make the players less penalty prone?

The saying is a penalty could be called on every play, these guys did.

Then it might well be for something that happened off camera...

The official who threw the flag was looking dead at Nico body slamming the runner when he threw the flag ..... and then blew the whistle.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
