ehhh... part of that increase is due to the FSU game but we have to stop attributing anything close to the 10K increase to one game against FSU

Total ATTENDANCE 262772

Towson 35,976

NIU 36,557

FSU 61,665

ECU 30,397

UConn 30,297

Navy 31,824

UCF 36,056

That was certainly the biggest factor, but not the only one.

Even if you take FSU out of the equation, our home schedule this year is considerably worse from both a team and non Saturday game perspective.

There is no doubt that USF was able to draw much better in the Big East and would do so again if we ever get an invite into a P5 conference.

I read recently that Miami signed a home and home series with Temple. It is obvious that the big three Florida schools don't think it is in their interest to schedule any more FB games with USF.

And, it's not just those schools. The P5 conferences would like to keep the AAC in its place and not have another major conference.

Sad to say, It will become increasingly more difficult for USF to get future OOC home games against big name teams, who could help to increase our attendance.

FSU game added about 4K to average. If you replace FSU with another ooc opponent, playing at noon, using a 31K attendance figure for it, the average falls to 33K.

Yes, which is still a 26% increase.  Now, some of that could be driven by the attention of having FSU, blah, blah, blah...but to assign any increase to FSU is silly.  I'd like us to have opponents people are interested in.  At this stage that is key.

Probably shouldn't have quoted you because that was my point, too. Still would have had around a 7K increase without the FSU influence ....... unless there were a ****load of FSU fans who bought season tix for that one game.

So at what stage will it become key that people are interested in USF, not the opponents? Top 20 team coming off best year in its history, "name" coach, with a qb in Heisman talk. I fully realize that the days/times royally suck this year but if we don't average 35K, announced .... not sure what to think. Maybe just go ahead and build a piece of **** ocs for the handful of us USF fans that don't care where the stadium is, its quality or who we're playing.

I realize we were on the same side of the argument for part one....

For part two, fans aren't all that enthralled with the Bulls, although many here are.  You have to get them to the stadium.

Maybe it's the opponent that helps initially (or you make it a carnival like atmosphere similar to the NBA game experience discussed last week - fire everywhere, more T&A, light shows, lasers, constant blaring music, etc.).

Either way, until that loyalty is burned in, people would rather watch the Bulls play Georgia Tech than Stony Brook, West Virginia over Tulane, FSU over San Jose State, etc....I see nothing wrong with utilizing better opponents to draw new Bulls fans.

Announcing "Attendance" does't mean that those mythical bodies actually attended.

Only homers and the blind would buy USF Athletics Bullsheet numbers.

Knighlight? That you?

Coach Strong mentioned this at the Bulls Rally today.  People need to come to see and support USF no matter the opponent.
