He's 5 over on the front so far today.  2 doubles mixed in there. My wife asked me yesterday why he was coming to USF if he is so good.  Pointed to today's performance so far and said "That's why, will give him time to compete and work on his overall game."

He steadied himself on the back nine, but was five over (75) for the day.

He made some unforced errors on the front side which cost him dearly.

As you say, he still needs to improve his all around game to be more consistent.

It's probably better for USF to have him play a bad round today. If he played too well, he might start having second thoughts about attending college.

The reps for Sergio Garcia have been advising him recently and most likely helped him to secure an invite into this tourney. I suspect, they would like for him to sign with them ASAP and skip school.

Perhaps it is coincidence, but Claudio "Yayo" Correa, who is his long time friend from Chile, who caddied for him at the US Open, and who was scheduled to be his roommate at USF, tweeted  this the other day:

yayocbThe best decision I've ever made was to come to college in the U.S Happy 4th everyone! #homeawayfromhome

Joaco off to a good start in the final round. He is -2 after nine holes with no blemishes on his card. He is currently -1 for the tourney which is T56.

Joaco just EAGLED the par four 10th hole!

I'm sure that will be a highlight on the Golf Channel.

He is now -4 for the day and -3 for the tourney which is currently T32.

After a par on the 11th, he birdied the 12th hole. He has now made up the five strokes he lost yesterday and is back at -4 for the tourney which is currently T20.

He made a par on the 18th and finished the day shooting 64!

That is the best score posted at the moment.

He is -5 for the tourney and is currently T17.

His final position will be decided after everyone finishes.

Congrats on a great bounce back from yesterday. He had a clean scorecard today.

God I hope he still comes here.  Nice rebound from yesterday.
