Chase just eagled the 16th hole! His team is (-18) and is currently tied for 7th place. If they can finish in the top 10 then Chase will gain entry into next week's Wells Fargo tournament.

It's on the Golf Channel.

They just birdied the 17th and are currently T-4!

16They finished at -19 which is currently T-5.

There are still a number of players on the course.

I was confused. The top 5 TEAMS (10 players) are exempt for next week's tourney. So, they are now just in. If someone passes them at -20, then Chase would be out.

In a normal PGA event, the top 10 PLAYERS are qualified for the following week.

Meanwhile, on the Web.com tour, former USF Golfer Oscar Fraustro ended up T-16.

Congrats to both our players.

Wow; good for him. I'm hoping to see a nice influx of former Bulls in the PGA in the years to come but Chase got up there quick. Hope he can have a good showing next week   .

AVONDALE, La. – Chase Koepka’s PGA Tour debut will be extended another week.

Chase and big brother Brooks birdied the last three holes and combined to shoot 10-under 62 on Sunday to tie for fifth at the Zurich Classic.

As one of the top 10 players and ties, Chase earned a spot in next week’s Wells Fargo Championship.

It’s an important start as he tries to earn enough points to qualify for the season-ending Web.com Tour Finals.

Chase, who graduated from USF last spring after becoming the program’s all-time wins leader, has status this season on the European Challenge Tour.

He was playing this week on a sponsor exemption.

Heck of a family there and a team! If I recall Brooks went to FSU and has been in the tour the past year or two?

Yes, and Brooks is currently ranked in the top 20.

Chase made a nice payday for himself of $140,000 for his 5th place. He also earned about half the FEDEX points needed to qualify for the WEB.com tour finals later in the year.

He could improve on that by at least making the cut at the Wells Fargo tourney this weekend.

So does this make him our highest rated sports recruit ever?
