Jokes aside, I don't think the GCO is as complex as people make it out to be-it's just that our players run it to perfection. If you think about it, here are our staple plays:

Read option runs

Bubble screens to the outside

Flowers sneaks off the bubble screen

Rodney Adams on the jet sweep.

It's just that we run those four different plays so well and block so well that it really doesn't matter that we keep it simple-and when we change it up or add a wrinkle, defenses tend to poop their pants trying to account for it.

The added wrinkles from the Baylor visit did wonders though. They came up with some exotic packages and bunch formations and ran plays out of that. That's what really stretched the defense. Just hoping the new offensive staff recognizes that and doesn't put a cookie cutter offense in.

Running a run, screen or deep pass out of the same formation is what kept the defense guessing. Those sweeps could really throw a defense off with a man in motion.

I agree. At the end of the day it's not like the offensive play calling was elite. Most of it was read option and improvisation; which is why I find it hard to believe CCS can screw it up that badly. Where he will make his money is what happens once flowers and mack are gone. Always figured the offense would be adjusted slightly for Kean or Chris O.

These o-side asst coaches have proven very good at what they're doing, Strong will surely consider their success. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders, cleaning house is not automatic. I'd think their success (or failure) today might have a small bearing on the decision.

And whom CWT offers jobs too. Could very well see everyone on the offensive side get offers.
