Congrats to him. But I swear it was reported yesterday that it was Kiffins job. Better to be right than to be first IMO

I thought I saw Kiffin had been hired too.  But this is official...guess it was just a bad report (or I misread it).

Fantastic move for Houston.  Applewhite is a rising star and will be able to keep the culture Herman built in place.  I Really think Kiffin would've been toxic for them and that culture....

That is a good move for them, and Applewhite.  It will be interesting, Applewhite's worked for some solid coaches.  I'm sure he's got a good plan for how he wants to run the program.  May be the next Willie Taggart, honestly.

Kiffin likely didn't want a high buyout, and I imagine that's why he didn't get hired.
