Should I take that as an indicator of your enjoyment of traffic jams, drunks, obnoxious fans, sunburns, uber loud piped in music, and commercials, and spending 4-5 hours in a ballpark to watch a game that should take about 1/2 that time to complete?

Nope. You can fixate on those apparent excuses all you want. I derive pleasure from tailgating with fellow graduates and fans, supporting my alma mater financially, and watching the squads that I can compete in games. It's as simple as that.

usf attendance will never be great since we are in the minor leagues

we play in the second tier

Hate this all you want but this is the bottom line.

Play big boy football vs big time opponents and attendance will jump by 10k even if we are bad and double if we are good.

Only problem with this is we are trying to attract people that aren't graduates. Then it isn't as simple. My wife and I are not grads but have adopted the Bulls as our own (our daughter is a grad, '07).  But since the alums aren't filling the stadium we need to find ways to attract people that don't have ties to the school.

You're right... it's the casual crowd we need....  that takes better opponents

Indeed. That's the tough one. How do I convince some guy with no ties to USF to spring for tickets? It'd be one thing if we were just trying to get folks through the door...we could sell dirt-cheap third-tier seats, but I think what USF really needs are increased season ticket purchases...and the alumni just aren't buying. How on earth do you appeal to someone with no ties to the school?

d.  If people didn't watch games on TV, there wouldn't be huge revenue streams from the network

Only if the Bulls win those games vs rankd P5 schools and stay in the top 25...

b.  Not everyone derives pleasure from the same things you do.

Not every USF graduate or fan finds so many impediments to actually attending games as you do. We can go around in circles, Ned. Fly the contrarian mantle high, if that makes you giddy.

and as long as we're digitally manipulating the environment, I think we should work on a platform that allows each individual viewer to manipulate the game to their choosing, down to the player level. Oh...wait...nevermind. We already have such systems in place. As you were.
