They may have chosen the white helmets because of the potential heat and the fact that FSU wears gold lids.  A lot cooler than green.

Why would we wear white, we're at home.  We did it as a one time thing vs Syracuse last year.  But our home uniforms have always been green jerseys

We can't.  It had to be agreed upon by both teams before the season started.
