If their QB could hit wide open receivers early in the game it would not have even been close.

Same can be said for us, flowers missed a lot of wide open receivers as well

Someone on an auburn board is saying he'll be announced this week...don't know how reliable, just passing it on

If that is true maybe he didn't care about planning for this game because he already had a foot out the door. I hope it's not true and that is not the reason though.

Tom Allen must have been on vacation the last three weeks.

I agree that was a pretty pathetic showing by our defense.

Especially when their D knew exactly what we were. I've asked before "Don't we watch film?"

I honestly wish our bowl game would have been somewhere other than Florida. I think our players weren't focused enough on the game. They were hanging out with friends and family down in Miami...pretty much a homecoming for a large portion of our team.

Or interviewing.....at least we shouldn't have to worry (as much) about him being snagged away.

From underdogdynasty.com

How did South Florida lose the game?

Just like there is not much reason Western Kentucky should have won this game because of their defense, USF doesn't have much of an excuse on offense for this loss. They scored 35 points, had two 100-yard rushers and had an all-around good game.

Defensively, however, well that's another story. The Hilltoppers held onto the ball for 31-and-a-half minutes and accumulated 612 yards of total offense while posting 45 points. Even though they picked off one of the best quarterbacks in the country twice, it was not enough for the Bulls defense to stand strong.

Things really started to go wrong for the Bulls in the third quarter with the 28-point explosion by the Hilltoppers. The Bulls showed some potential on defense, holding them to just 10 points in the first half, but as their second half showed, they still have a ways to go on defense.

I blame the refs, as they're clearly on someone's payroll (not ours). The fair-catch-and-run plus the fumble-through-the-endzone touchdown . . . Smdh.

No, I just don't expect a team to get a touchdown when they fumble a ball into the endzone or get a touchdown when the players foot was dragging out of bounds. I also expect flags to be thrown when a wr is being interfered with or when a player is hit head first, even when he isn't near the ball....but that's just me. Did we lose because of it, no, but did they certainly play a factor. You better believe it.

One of the ref blunders that upset me the most was actually the extremely late whistle on the offsides during a point after attempt that allowed a defensive WKU player to mow down through a barely set line and crush a USF player (maybe Price?). That's uncalled for and how people get hurt. It's your job to identify and stop those plays quickly so things like that don't happen. I've seen far too much of this from stripes this year. It may not have been one of the calls that cost us points, but it was one of the more offensive to me personally. Between this call and the no call hit far away from the play, I wasn't happy with the lack of protection from the refs in that game.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.
