then you need to look at a map

the generican is a sprawling, geographical mess comprised of mostly lousy teams

you said lousy teams. When we were in the Big East there was never three undefeated teams at this point. Also, this is our conference either you embrace it or leave because it's not changing.

I think the point is when the bottom half of your conference is a collection of the very worst football teams in FBS you are going to have a few teams at the team with strong records.

Then why  doesn't Cuse, MAC, Sun Belt, etc. have more than one ranked team? Actually MAC is the only one from the above to have one. You can stack Memphis against the middle of the SEC, Houston against the middle of the Big 12, and Temple against the middle of the ACC. Further, CBS has an interesting article how the AAC is catching the ACC this year. Of course who knows in the long term if the conference can continue its success. My point is, this really is not a bad conference. Further, people can piss and moan all they want but USF not going anywhere soon. I would rather enjoy any success USF has now as opposed to sulk about the conference. It just does not make sense to me and life is too short.

Beacause they all have losses. The only reason the AAC has teams in the Top 25 is because they are undefeated. The second one of them loses the novelty wears off and they will plummet. There are six one loss teams  and even a two loss team ranked ahead of our three undefeated teams.

Case in point: Toledo is only ranked because the are undefeated.

However, you have to account for biasness against the P5 in general and the AAC specifically in terms of polling. Memphis and Houston could knock off many of the five to ten in front of them.  The polls have little to do with conference quality (relative to many in the G5) due to the closed system created by ESPN and the " privilege five."

We have to get the AAC to count as P5 games for the other conferences.  If we can do that, we will be able to continue to schedule great OOC games and bring our fans back.  AAC would be like P5jr.

That's not much of a valid counter-point.  Your point is easily explained because of preseason bias.

Put it this way, at the beginning of the season, all teams are 0-0.  But for "some reason" there are certain teams (almost all in the "P5") that will occupy the top 25 no matter what.

They they all win, they stay ranked.  "G5" teams however, even if they win, will not be ranked because of the preseason placement/bias.  The only way for those teams to become ranked is for the already ranked ("P5") teams to lose, or if they narrowly win against a very bad team, while a "G5" team blowout another decent team (and history has shown that sometimes wont drop one of the favorites from rankings.)

So if both "P5" and "G5" teams win, then obviously the "P5" will remain ranked.

This is an attendance thread

i'm glad New England bull rents the party room at the local vfw every time Memphis, temple or Houston play on tv, but the conference is a sprawling geographical mess that provides crap games like smu v usf, which are a tough ticket to sell

attendance stinks in in large part because the conference stinks and the games are meaningless

Agree 100%.  It looks like the Big Ten automatically says that a school can be counted as a P5 if they are scheduled to play them. This happened a few times this year. Thus, I think we will have that status with that conference when we play  Illinois. Of course, we still don't have P5 money which is what it's all about.

actually that is not really true.  The Playoff Committee ranks all teams 1-25 and selects the top 4 for the playoffs.  They don't even release their initial rankings until Novemeber 3rd.
