I wonder if USF trustees are OK with on campus Publix selling package liquor, beer, and wine? Could just roll kegs from the store over to dorms!

Behavior in stands at college games is a lot better than the old days when booze in stands wasn't enforced like now days. Back when liquor bottles were all made outta glass instead of today's plastic...it was not uncommon to see fights with opposing fans carving each other up with broken liquor bottles going at it after games...or innocents getting carried out after getting hit in head from an idiot flinging his empty liquor bottle from 10 rows up.

Older guys can chase younger women...not saying you'd be able to catch any though. I'd chase 'em, but my wife won't give me a permission slip to.

Long term, Ybor City probably has a bright future for next few decades. The city of Tampa, Hillsborough County, and the business community in Ybor are working to turn Ybor into more of a business center and run off the crappy joints that stink up the Ybor area now. Ashley Furniture is locating a new 72,000 S.F. corporate office by the existing Movico theater in Ybor...they'll be in new office in a few weeks with a couple of hundred employees. The downtown Tampa area below Kennedy Blvd used to be an all run down, beat up warehouse district only a few decades ago but has been much improved with development...same thing will happen in Ybor.

I was 22 once, so I guess it's OK for me to be here too. Looks like there's a lot of cute cowgirls up there at FSU.... bet they like riding bulls.

Didn't see Florida Poly in the rankings...does a college have to be accredited to get ranked? Florida Poly trustees just approved last month buying a million dollar house for its president...should help Florida Poly get accredited?

Nothing new here. I'm sure USF football coaches have been telling players since USF football program first started to stay out of bars and nightclubs at late hours. If a USF student-athlete is in a beautiful part of Tampa that smells like stale beer and puke at 3:00 a.m...it's time to go home.

Those Vegas oddsmakers are pretty darned good at what they do...USF is going to have its hands full with FSU. Texas State was in the game with FSU first half but was out of gas for second half. Second half will make or break USF...hope all the conditioning and practicing has got the guys in peak physical and mental condition. Go Bulls...scalp the 'Noles!

Some of the worst road traffic gridlock in the state of Florida during work week day hours is on the roads wrapped right around the UF campus in Gainesville...traffic lights change and drivers can't go anywhere because the roads are so clogged up. Somebody is commuting there!

USF is a large modern university in a big metro area/setting...by design it serves many students who commute. There are some small people who like to fling the 'commuter school' slur at USF...ignore them. Maybe 6000 students live on USF's campus about same as 'destination' schools like FSU and UF. I think more students at USF-Tampa are from Broward county than Tampa Bay's own Pinellas county. USF today isn't Daddy's commuter school like 40 years ago.

It's great that more top high school students are deciding to attend USF as new freshmen over other schools. What is even more important is what happens to students after they enter USF as students...USF makes average and top students into even better young adults. My daughter began USF not as a USF Honors College student but as a regular student, but she flourished at USF and learned so much and was well prepared when she was admitted to one of USF's competitive graduate programs after receiving two USF Bachelor's degrees simultaneously three years ago ...she received her master's degree Saturday. She has been working last 3 years too fulltime outside USF in work field related to her studies. USF is an excellent school that not only admits top students...more importantly USF makes top students even better students and develops them into mature, well-rounded young adults who will contribute to community!

I thought Florida Fireworks Statute 791 says it's illegal to have fireworks like JPP was probably using. Apparently law isn't really enforced in Florida and everyone looks the other way. I think the fireworks sellers in Florida use an exception clause in statute that allow fireworks for agricultural use to scare birds away in crop fields and what sellers do is get buyers to sign a release form that that is what they are using the fireworks mortars for...not for shooting out of backyard for recreation. Dumb.

FAMU is a perfect team for USF to open with...FAMU has tons of fans in Tampa area who will go to this game. In the big picture, it was only a few decades ago when FAMU, FSU, and UF were the only state universities operating in Florida...FAMU has built up a sizable following and loyal alumni base over the years.

Brooksville Central High grad DuJuan Harris is down with Packers too. He's their kickoff return specialist and a running back. At only 5' 7" he's a fast jitter-bugger on the field!

Florida is a natural market for BIG 12 expansion. Florida is still a growing state like Texas and is third state in US population-wise with 20 million residents. Conferences expanding need to look out to future like 20+ years and exponentially growing alumni bases at USF and UCF make a lot of sense for BIG 12.

Little bit early to be holding a wake for USF football. USF football is limping now, but it ain't dead yet. Time for everyone to help get the program recharged and back in high gear...it can be done.

USF has an FM radio station of its own and a TV station too, WUSF. Maybe, change both of them over to a sports format and broadcast Bulls sports on them?

Funny, the ESPN announcer doing last night's game, Mark Wise, who started off sounding critical of USF's team...he used to coach USF basketball team as an assistant for Lee Rose back in 1980s? Wise's wife is the UF volleyball team head coach.

Sad story all around. Hope victims recover fully. What's crazy is how police dispatcher got 911 call at 12:24 and by 12:27 cops had arrived and shot gunman dead after he shot at them.
