  2. Michael will do what his uncle, Andre Dyer, tells him to do. Uncle Andre, a Little Rock cop, is the one giving Michael guidance. If Uncle Andre thinks USF is best situation for Michael, USF is maybe where Michael will attend college and play football soon.
  3. Just for laughs---FSU frat boy gets curb-stomped by transvestites at Circle K/McDonalds next to Doak Campbell: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=_Q_jel34LgE
  4. I used to take my kids to swim meets at the Dunedin city pool once in a while. They used to always use Hendrix' Star Bangled Banner song on loudspeakers at daybreak to start off the swim meets...the pool is right across street from houses that would almost have their roofs shanken off from the really loud music. The adjoining homeowners would phone the pool complaining...the guy at pool would just turn volume up louder for the Hendrix song!
  5. ^ It's only about a 35 mile drive from USF campus to Hernando County...easy drive to see the game. Too, the short distance is a plus for student-athletes from Hernando County attending USF. Far enough away from home to have independence from home, but close enough that friends and family can get to games to see them easily.
  6. It'll be fun seeing Rohan line up this fall playing opposite another USF offeree, Weeki Wachee High School offensive tackle Marcus Applefield. Two big, fast, talented guys will be going at it playing against each other!
  7. Kid is fast. He didn't even get here yet and he is already gone?
  8. Sunday August 18th 2-4 p.m. at Ray Jay sounds good to me. Can't do Fan Fest Sunday morning...everyone will be at church!
  9. I know lots of people enjoy really scary roller coaster rides...I don't particularly like 'em. To me a 500 foot free fall is called a bad accident...not fun! I like the beer at Busch Gardens and the water rides, but I don't like the real crazy roller coaster rides.
  10. Things can change, and can be improved. Anyone remember when Tampa's Harbor Island was called Seddon Island and was nothing more than an empty wasteland all by itself? Or remember when the south end of downtown Tampa was nothing but a rundown warehouse district? Suitcase City may not change overnight, but someday it will be improved and cleaned up.
  11. Wearing all black makes perfect sense for UCF...they'll be already properly dressed for their own wake after the game.
  12. Marcus got found up in little Weeki Wachee...he's got about 15 or 16 scholarship offers already, including USF. He's big and he can move. http://www.tampabay.com/hometeam/blog/location-was-almost-everything-recruitment-weeki-w/17519/
  13. Regulators probably won't allow an on campus football stadium being built before Fletcher Av is widened. What's the holdup on Fletcher Av improvements? Hope the new 'gourmet' Walmart has valet parking..the present Walmart by campus now only offers free carjacking service.
  14. Hope the bull statues are unneutered...we need aggressive Bulls at USF.
  15. Clint's got a busy week with USF visit today, final exams this coming week at FSU, graduation next weekend at FSU, and probably making decision for playing football at a new school.
  16. It didn't hurt FSU getting the preeminent university designation and extra $75 million that the present chairman of the FSU Board of Trustees, Alan Bense, is the father-in-law of current Florida House of Representatives Speaker Will Weatherford. Conflict or just helping out family?
  17. USF faculty members who don't like college sports should get jobs at New College in Sarasota.
  18. Florida will soon pass New York as 3rd most populous state after only California and Texas. Florida supports 3 NFL teams...Florida can support 3 major athletic conferences too...SEC, ACC, and Big 12. Adding both USF and UCF as a package to Big 12 long term in growing Florida market could make economic sense for all members of Big 12. The AAC has lots of potential for USF...the Big 12 would offer USF more though.
  19. The 12 criteria/excellence standards used to qualify for new preeminent university designation are listed in below link beginning at line 3385. It's clear the 12 standards were selected specifically to exclude USF on purpose. USF is big with medical research--standard (g) waters down and offsets USF's medical research accomplishments by requiring non medical sciences research over $150 million which USF probably doesn't do, but USF surely does over $200 million in research with medical being a big part of it. USF's undergraduate graduating rate is well below 70% and needs improvement, but I still think USF's overall academic and research accomplishments make USF deserving of getting same preeminent university recognition AND $75 million as UF and FSU over next 5 years. http://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2013/1076/BillText/er/PDF
  20. This new law, which includes the preeminent universities provision, was introduced by state senator John Legg. Legg got his bachelor's and master's degrees at USF! The preeminent universities 20 qualifying criteria were clearly drawn up solely to make sure only FSU and UF get an extra $75 million each of Florida taxpayer money over the next 5 years. The incentive that USF can attain the criteria too is hollow because surely the qualifications would be changed if USF came close to attaining the present 20. The carrot is being dangled out there, but if USF gets close the rules will likely change so only FSU and UF continue to get treated special. It's wrong only 2 universities of 12 universities in state public university system get extra funding. USF students though will likely at least get a tuition increase of maybe 4% with the legislature this session. http://www.flsenate.gov/Senators/S17
  21. The new education law the governor signed today is so stupid. To qualify for the preeminent research university designation, state universities have to meet 11 of 12 bogus qualifying criteria including enrolling new freshmen with minimum "4.0 or higher high school GPAs on a 4.0 scale." Uh?
  22. I think a lot of times rumors start from 'sauces' like Jim Beam and Jack Daniels, and not from 'sources.'
  23. The Big 12 wants to get its foot in the Florida door. http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/colleges/big-12-looking-for-deals-with-minor-bowl-games-fans-can-drive-to/2013/04/22/3b166a3e-ab62-11e2-9493-2ff3bf26c4b4_story.html
  24. I've heard of lots of people leaving West Virginia to come to Florida, but I don't know too many people who have left the Sunshine State for West Virginia. It gets pretty cold up there wintertime, and I don't think there are very many beaches up there either. USF would be a good landing spot for Clint...excellent academics, fun in the sun, a head football coach who understands the QB position and who can help Clint be his best.
