  1. Small world. Like many on here I never met him, but appreciated his contributions on Greg's blog. The weird part is that I heard about this through my place of employment as his wife works right down the hall from me in a different department at the publix corporate office. Sucks that I never got the chance to make this connection until now. Would have been great to have known him and shared some USF tales. Very sad, thought at with his family...
  2. Yeah, hard to be happy about this. I check the blog daily and buy papers when there are cool stories about USF. So far I like Knight's writing and level of detail, but it was extremely rare to go four days with no stories or information in the middle of a season when Greg was on the USF beat. Not good timing either. I've checked everyday and nothing since the 18th then when his ap ballot is posted I'm supposed to pay to see it... Just bad timing. I get the idea, but seems like a last ditch effort to me. Most sites with valuable content make money through advertising to share that information. Making readers pay and not toning down the ads or beefing up the coverage is saying that they were undervalued. Not sure that is true at this point. But what do I know. I'm just a reader that when enticed by the online content would buy the paper.
  3. Aren't we like 23rd in total defense? Doesn't mean anything, but to be ranked that high the only way we have given up points are turnovers and inopportune missed assignments. All in all the defense has not been the problem. This team will be better than the 0 and 12 dog most of you have lowered your expectations to. But hey I don't blame you, Saturdays are way easier with no expectations.
  4. Jack wagon. But you probably believe that if we are really lucky beyond belief and beat Miami that we would then automatically be better than UF too. Not only are you using the transitive property, which everyone knows is idiotic, you are using it indirectly and basing half of it on the Sentinel.
  5. Playing White is ridiculous. No one plays a true freshman here and there to get them experience. If he was going to beat these other guys out he would have already done it. But to waste a year for 'game experience', no way. Coaches don't like players getting game experience if you lose the game. If he gave us a better chance to win then he'd be playing otherwise he isn't going to play just to see what it is like getting beat, or to practice against lesser competition. Not a good coaching plan.
  6. It is actually a bus. And isn't a bus the safest place to be during a hurricane? Wait, crap, that doesn't sound right. I better buy more beer before next weekend!
  7. Holtz beat Miami. Taggart could do it. I predict the game will depend on turnovers. 0 turnovers and it close +-14 each turnover equates to 7 - 14 points difference. We can't afford to give anyone anything, especially a good team. It would take a perfect storm to win. Low hopes + cold beer = good Saturday!
  8. I like this better than not having football. If you don't, then you suck at being a fan. I mean really, none of us have more than a few thousand dollars invested and we can't effect the outcome. Get a package of ground beef from publix, a twelve pack of your favorite beer and invite a good friend to sit in the shade, cook burgers, drink beer and ******** for four hours next Saturday. If we win, then heck yeah, and if we lose, well, you did your part. If that's a bad day win or lose then you need to pick a new beer or new friends!
  9. I hope you are right, but I know better. None of these guys, with this offensive line, will enjoy any consistent major college football success. An occasional win? Maybe. But no way is the team going bowling this year. Have you seen the schedule? Bingo. We have 8 win-able games if we play like this. We will win 6 of them and lose 2 of them because of all the things the negative ******** here say. Bench will be the QB at the end of the season. Taggart knows that and is just trying to stay safe and give us a chance as he stands on the sideline and learns. We will have running plays for 75% of the plays and when he throws he will be able to see the field. Mark it, bitches! Consider it marked. The offense got better...all evidence to the contrary, unless you count multiple field goals, no TD's, dropped (if not outright missed passes) and overthrown passes and a fumble turned into a touchdown as improvement. About those eight winnable games, amigo...I'm sticking with my preseason tally of four wins (where I'm already wrong, McSU I had picked as a win)....now I'm down to FAU, SMU & Memphis. Wooly. Now you can't say that two field goals against MICHIGAN STATE isn't better than one lucky running play and 2 garbage time TDs against McNeese. You can't throw out the level of defeinsive competition. Now I will say this. That is where I sit right now, but like any warm blooded fan I reserve the right to change my mind at ANY time. I am admittedly hopeful, but if we make FAU look like they can play football, I'll jump off the optimism wagin and right onto the 'rebuilding' wagon. Hopefully we don't all have to slide all the way to the 'we just suck forever' wagon!!!!
  10. The offense got better? Really? Yes. They played the best defense they will face this year and looked organized and together as a unit. The other team was just that much better than us. Last week our offense looked like a circus.
  11. Assuming for a moment that this is true, what does that say about AD? When you are at work, and your boss assigns you to work a project with Mark instead of Tom who you prefer, do you give it a half hearted effort because you don't like the way he dots his i's on the whiteboard? I hope this isn't true, because that would make me feel less sympathetic towards him. I'm hoping he's just in a funk right now because of how last season turned out. I'm not a 19 year old hyped wide out. Remember the age and mentality of most of these guys are right where ours was in college. But to answer your question, no my effort doesn't change, but at some point I quit trying to cover their butts. Also, I don't think his effort was half hearted. The guy doesn't make sports center catches and everyone wants his head. He did get at least two pass interferences by their best corner and is still our best target.
  12. And this is based on? The fact that Davis has ridiculous talent and my belief that Bench is a decent QB. I don't believe that Eveld or Floyd see the field very well. Is it wrong for me to think those things? Do you dispute the likelihood of Bench being able to see the field better than Eveld or Floyd? Do you dispute that Davis is talented?
  13. I think he is pissed that he has had Floyd and Eveld throwing the ball AT him. He wants Bench, and when that happens you see him and Bench light it up when needed.
  14. Did you watch Bench run it? Did you watch the game?
  15. Watch the game and watch him. He is consistently breaking blocks and rushing the QB. He will get it back. He, Chandler, and DeDe were the defense today. Watch it again and watch 19 every defensive snap. He makes things change every snap for the offense and will soon find the extra step and be a disruption like we all expect.
  16. I hope you are right, but I know better. None of these guys, with this offensive line, will enjoy any consistent major college football success. An occasional win? Maybe. 17. This offense got better this week. It will continue to improve as all of the qbs improve at game speed. I had hoped to see Bench throw the ball, but right now all we need is a QB that can see the field. It will come, and before this season ends. I see a strong finish and a bowl game. Go ahead and bash this idea, but in December I want to either eat my words or rub it in every ****** fan's face on this board! Either way I'm fine with it, are you?
  18. You have liquor left after last week? That's crazy...
  19. I suspect the QB won't be a very big part of our offense for a few games. Run, run, run. Run the ball, run the clock, run to the bus...
  20. I say start Eveld. I noticed that he was the first person from our team to shake the opposing coaches hand. Unless there was a check in the coaches hand (joking), I think that shows leadership and that is something the team I watched Saturday needed. Floyd was hanging his head after INT number 1. And lets be honest INTs never bothered Eveld in the past! Couldn't help it, but seriously I was very impressed with his leadership of the team even with people checking out. I say you give him another 4 quarters and he gets the team into and playing at a respectable level.
  21. We had one. He is red shirting behind a sophomore and a freshman at ucla. Might never see the field and he could have been a home town savior... Pitty...party of one please.
  22. 14 points is a joke. If you think that is the problem you need to go back to football school...
