The Real a...hole here is McMurphy who used an obviously weak individual like Miller as a pawn to get Levett who he had a grudge against. For those who think CJL could not get this program to the next level you need to think again. After 13 years he was just starting to build the depth he needed to compete for an entire season. Didn't He had the highest ranked recruiting class at USF the year before all this went down. With one or two more strong clases and the improved facilities who knows what he would have done. Also there's no denying he left a ton of talent that was wasted by SH. From what I can tell there has never been any other complaints by any of his players about poor treatment to the contrary most supported him. IMO this was a complete setup. Unfortunately USF had a PISS poor AD & Levett handled the aftermath poorly. USF has paid a very big price because the collapse of the football program happened at the worst possible time. Hopefully they can turn it around and it not to late to get relevant enough to be attactive to a P5 conference . . This is one of the biggest perception problems around here. We're only paying attention to realignment because we were in the Big East. Had we been stuck in CUSA, we would have been thrilled to move up to the AAC. But because we were in the BE, we moved up, then back down. We're in a better position than we were in 2004, but not as good as we were in 2009. Everything's relative. Is it better to have loved and lost, then to never having loved before? In this case, yes ........ because we got to keep the engagement ring (new diamonds, new pitch & the Muma). That perception was destroyed by the SH era. BTW What can possibly be positive about having grown Only to go backwards. Implying that USF is somehow better off today because They went backwards makes zero sence. The University and Fans need to have much greater expectations!

Bad Karma. Only winners? Brett, Genshaft and Woolard. Leavitt lost as did the gypsys, tramps and thieves. (Edit: Some thought by saying the gypsys, tramps and thieves lost, I might have meant Brett)

Serious question. Is USF that big in Tampa that even casual fans would interview this guy, immediately recognize his name and pass on him for employment? Sounds pretty unbelievable unless you bought down Auburn or Texas or Georgia.

Not sure who that was directed at but nobody has said that we're better off today than we were while in the BE. The only reason, IMO, that we're better off than before the BE is because the BE money spurred the athletic complex improvements. If the improvements would have been built anyway, the BE did nothing for us, as it turns out, but jade a portion of our "fan" base into entitlement mode. Would have been better growing the athletic programs within the confines of a conference that better suited them.

The problems supposedly started when they Googled him in a background check.

Of course the University's hit man, Gonzales said the aforementioned Florida State Trooper wasn't credible, but Joel Miller was. Go figure. Riddle me this, though...How could Leavitt have covered up something he was NEVER asked about? Leavitt was never interviewed in the "investigation," he was only given two choices at the end, admit to it or be fired.Knowing the written report was faulty and pretty amateurish (and may ultimately have been what cost USF $3 million) it did say Leavitt was interviewed by Sandy Lovins and Bill McGillis as was Joel Miller and his dad. But you are right, Gonzalez failed to do so according to his own report. Of course other interested parties that were not even in the locker room were interviewed to see if they could/would support Miller's story, i,e, Matt Grothe.
