Going to be a long year but it will get a pass since this Kingston's 1st season at USF. Got to give him time to get his players in.

What's your definition of a long year? .500 ball and 3rd or 4 th in the conference?

We (USF) give out a lot of passes... And paychecks.

We lack punch in the batting lineup. Absent some newbie going crazy with the batting statistics in the AAC, I'm just not seeing where we'll get that this season. The pitching staff is supposed to be solid, and I hope Kingston is able to rectify some of the defensive lapses we seemed to fall into last season. I think we're likely a few seasons away from being able to consider ourselves in the top-3 of the AAC.

We finished in 5th place last year and 2 of the teams ahead of us are gone. I'll be disappointed if we're not in the top 3 this year.

I hope you're right.

Who has the better year, baseball or softball?

Is this a serious question?  Softball continues to be light years ahead of baseball at USF.

Really, this is most puzzling to me.  I watched many a baseball game back in the day.  It was a pleasure to watch some teams when 40+ wins was a regular occurence.  Florida isn't really a basketball state, so struggling in that area isn't really too surprising.  With football, there is some stiff competition for recruits.  Why we can't field a good baseball team over the last three coaches, in this state is a huge mystery.  Maybe Cardieri never really lost it.  Maybe external factors beyond the coaches' control are to blame.

Seems as if every other university that plays baseball in this state has had relatively more success than we (USF) has had recently.

You guys are nuts, this team is going to have a hell of a season, if anything just because of their schedule. 12 of the 56 games are in florida, we have one of the most experienced teams in the league. The new coach is a hit with the kids, if we don't win 40 ill be surprised.

Wow.  We must have a brutal road schedule.  ;)
