is watching La Tech beat Marshall today. Maybe he'll pick up some clues. Like how to move the ball. And La Tech has 5 suspended starters, 2 on the OL and one a defensive captain.

I think the powers that be at La Tech saw through this argument and immediately hired him when he was available. 2 years later in their championship game, apparently a wise decision. Skip was the HC of a coaching staff so who knows what happened at USF, but it wasn't like that for him before he came...or after leaving.

Woolard destroyed Skip because Skip allowed it to happen.  Skip thought he was on easy street and was shielded from accountability. One really bad season and poof, you're done.  Had Woolard been a leader, Skip would have got off his ass and preserved his legacy.  The rest is history.

All these contracts, even Judy's have performance bonuses. I think its naive to think Skip got 'lazy' and didn't care about hundreds of thousands in potential bonuses. I think a lot of his demise was on the crappy assistants available to him at a time when there were big question marks about the future of football at USF due to its Big East membership. That has a major effect on a program from recruiting to player development to play calling and execution.

I think he is to nice a guy and kept old friends in positions they were not qualified for. That was his downfall here.

Yes, that is part of the culture of football coaches, its very much a networking environment. Unfortunately doesn't work out often. Both Holtz and Taggart have staff that meet that definition, either worked with them or know someone who worked with them and they gave them their name. Note in both cases these coaches were mostly out of work too.

Sure seems like all of a sudden you're making excuses for Skip.

Don't absolve Skip of the sins he committed with USF football just because you hate Woolard more (which I can understand).

Here is something to ponder. Do we know what we have in Wulf? He left and 49ers running game is not doing too hot. Doses him not being there have anything to do with that? Is he guilty by association or under/incorrectly utilized by Taggart?

Yeah, well, you should put most of your hate on his staff. Remember the year USF couldn't get a turn over? La Tech #1 in the country for turn overs. Different DC and position coaches do wonders.
