Better than the victory tonight was seeing Guerrero playing. So the win and Guerrero = awesome!

Now, we aren't so vulnerable in the middle. We are already a better team than last year's team.

Per Ruoco pre game, Guerrero playing tonight. Holston and Clayton out

Obviously wasn't a hernia that they were afraid of.  He's a tall kid.  Once he works back into game shape he will be a big help in the post.

And for a true freshman getting his first taste at this level, didn't look totally lost out there ... Interesting thing, though, is that he and Jaleel are both listed at 6'11" but something is amiss ....

These guys are really fun to watch! I know this season will have it's lumps, but I like the way Coach O has them playing.

It's very early, but I have to say that I'm impressed with this team.

I thought NC State would put a whipping on our guys.

And then I didn't think they'd come back on Hofstra.

We'll need all these early victories to have enough for an NIT invite. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

By the way, the bones are gone!

(1) Holston: sprain wasn't as bad as it looked.

(2) Guerrero is playing and didn't have to red shirt.

This is historic, folks!  ...Remember Scott Johnson?

Long ago 3 point shooting center ... not sure the reference, though.

It was a "bones under the Sun Dome" reference.

May 6, 2000

The only senior on the Bulls basketball squad, Johnson had appealed to the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility after missing the better part of two seasons because of two knee injuries.

The appeal was denied Thursday, ending a roller-coaster five-year college career.

[...] After a solid freshman year at Virginia, Johnson transferred to USF and sat out the transfer year. In November 1996, when he was allowed to practice with the team, Johnson tore his left anterior-cruciate ligament and was out the rest of the season. [...]

The next year, Johnson started 28 of 30 games and had his most productive season, averaging 12 points and 5.2 rebounds and hitting 47 three-pointers.

But on Nov. 24, 1998, two games into his third collegiate year, Johnson tore his right ACL. [...]
Last season, he averaged 8.7 points and 4.1 rebounds for the Bulls, who were 17-14 and lost 64-58 to the New Mexico in the opening round of the National Invitation Tournament. In the final seconds of that game, Johnson severly injured his ankle scrambling for a loose ball.
