You are right. Taggart can't make halftime adjustments

Oh wait

So, to try to make this a semi-intelligent discussion and redirect to where the OP was headed.  In general, should the team leading after the 1st half make adjustments?  Wisconsin we were tied, so you could argue that adjustments should be made by both teams.  Leading at the half vs ECU so should we expect a lot of adjustments?  Behind vs Tulsa so adjustments should be made.

But when the wheels start to fall off, like they did against ECU in the 2nd half, should we expect adjustments on the fly?  Do you use a timeout here and there to get the player's heads back into it?

With the type offense ECU was running, that could be a good use of timeouts .... but I also think coaches are reticent to use them early in halves unless absolutely necessary. Another one of those 20/20 hindsight type of things.

Did you listen to the press conference after the game? I remember Taggart saying something to the effect that the only difference in the 2nd half was people started making plays. That's essentially what I said at the top of the thread. I didn't see a schematic shift at all. Passes were on target as opposed to beginning of first QTR is one example I can point out. Since the offense played with urgency and got rolling, the defense was able to rest in the 2nd half.

I thought threads would get more intelligent once we had a decent game...

The posts will get better in the 2nd half of the season...after we all adjust.

Not sure what adjustments were made other than throwing the ball down field to Andre Davis. Props to him for getting it figured out because a loss to Tulsa the way it was going would've been devastating.

I think they attempted this in the first half as well, so I would call that execution rather than adjustment. Unless I "misremember" the first half, I remember some shots taken down the field that were just not accurate throws.

I have to agree with the poster that said the second half the team started executing. And add they stopped trying for INTs and started successfully batting balls that in the first half would have been completions.

Probably the best adjective to use

4. Fair; good enough; okay.
