I've said it before, don't know why we don't play all basketball games at the Forum.  Have you see that place?  It seats 20,000 and hosts NCAA tournaments.  Waste of money to redo SunDome.  Should have leveled it and made a park for students to frolic in.

  1. Cost... USF doesn't have $120 million right now... and likely won't for a few years.
  2. Need... Houston's stadium was  70 years old and crumbling ... UCF was kicked out of the Citrus Bowl... both schools didn't have a lot of options we have a fully functioning stadium without scheduling issues.
  3. Fundraising... USF just finished the "unstoppable" campaign... need to wait a bit before going back out into the community asking for more support.  Houston had to raise $80-$85 million before construction started.
  4. Size... USF will need 50k or will need to shrink the student section.  The Houston stadium provides 5,000 student seats and 35,000+ for others... if USF keeps the 12,501 student section, the total will need to be 47,501... if not a little bigger.
  5. Community support... Because of the losing the past few seasons, support is at an all-time low... we need the community to buy in and support the team, which means we'll need to return to the winning ways.
  6. NCAA turmoil... The O'Bannon and Kessler cases could add a lot more expenses to the athletic budget, along with trying to keep up with the P5 programs... Heck, USF is already trying to raise money to use an endowment to cover the full cost of attendance... we may need to wait a few years for the turmoil to setle down.

Just my two cents on why we can't do it ... ... ... ... yet.

Fundraising - USF Unstoppable is continuing on I believe.  Please verify.

The rent the Sundome out for other events which helps offset the cost.  Big advantage.

Unstoppable is still going on, UNLESS... USF just raised 1$ Billion and never mentioned it.

Let's just be honest, USF... We don't have a stadium, NOR a good reason not to have one...

Just a bunch of excuses... Shows the quality of our program.

Have to imagine something so blatantly off-base is sarcasm, amirite?

Anyway, couldn't even fathom such a pimp stadium worked into USF's campus.. could never relate in the slightest to anyone that tries to defend "benefits" of Ray Jay as superior to a brand new OCS.. grasping at straws.. LOSE fans over "less comfortable" seating at a brand new OCS.. probably enough to negate sore ass-cheeks pretty quickly, ya kno?.. how dense of a ******* nerd do you have to be to believe in tripe like that.. total disregard for big-picture implications of landing an OCS, e.g., benefits to athletics (perceived and real), university, and Temple Terrace.

capacity concerns? if we could sell-out entire seasons at 40k on-campus, this program would be soaring at an all-time high. couple of crowds at tail-end of '13 could have been condensed into "the AAC's largest student section".. get real and remember we're small time football.

stadium will be a reality once a cut of USF football's "golden era" fans (enrollment including any yrs 07-11) arrive at executive positions and start stacking money bags. regarding donation potential, one could argue we are the most important fans to have ever matriculated. any and all perception of USF football as a legitimate program is based off this 5-year chunk of on-field performance.

trying to stay grounded here. a stadium of this caliber, or even 10-25 mill below price tag, would be a dream.. after all, sands are flowing in the"forever relegated to insignificant directional school" hourglass.

where's smazza to drop some radical-realist wisdom?

Upgraded FAU model but on a bigger scale. Seat backs on all the seats except the student section. There's seats about 30k and was 70mil. Now, all we need is 120-150mil.

The student section ticket allotment of 12,501 is a complete joke.  I think we may have maxed that out once (07 WVU) and that was when students were allowed to purchase additional "companion" seats.

5,000 sounds good.  Sadly, I don't think we are anywhere close to that now.  If/when the program is successful again students will actually have to make an effort to secure football tickets.  Way too much supply and not enough demand right now.

Let's be honest, who, in the know, have you asked for a good reason we don't have one?
