For each day of the countdown, I will list the players that played wearing the jersey number that corresponds to the days remaining until kickoff. Each day will count down a jersey as the days pass. Tomorrow will be jersey 98, then 97, etc.

Look at the list of players (and years played) and declare the best to ever wear that number, or, your favorite. Perhaps there is a special play or moment you recall. Log your thoughts in the thread to be held in our archives of Bulls information and comment. Also, vote above for the greatest player to wear the number.

For today:

A thought just struck me. In all the 70-something days we've been doing this (thanks Brad!) I can't ever remember an overlap, where two players had the same number in the same year.

But I distinctly remember a game a few years back where there were two, one on offense and the other on defense, and the announcers were saying one of them would have to change jerseys only if they were both on the field at the same time.

Or am I slowly going mad?

Happens regularly...100 numbers and 105 spots. Look at our current depth chart and there's several repeaters. Seems they're usually in the lower digits, though?...

Giddens and BJ come to mind more recently

Think it was earlier than that, but as we haven't gotten to #7 yet, I'm not completely mad...

To me, even #7 is really not much of a contest at all ...

I remember a few years ago AJ Love & Joseph wearing #11. I was like, "what's AJ doing out there on D!?" Then I learned about the dupe number game.

Right time period, so maybe that was it. Again, it was a number we haven't gotten to yet. I'm feeling less mad by the moment!

I think Mike Ford and Mike Jenkins might have both been wearing #4 in 2007.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
