Not sure why anyone would be out defending Doug -- he retired. Sure he was incompetent. Sure he is probably responsible for the greatest waste in the history of USF - but our administration lacked the courage to actually fire him.

That being said - it is not uncommon after someone who has worked as long as Doug in a position such as AD to have a building, conference room, or street named after them. Perhaps honoring in such a way could bring the USF community back together and start the healing process. I propose a mobile boulevard -- we could take it to basketball games, football games, heck even bowl games (remember what those are like?)!

Incompetent Doug. Doubled the athletic budget during his tenure, went on possibly the largest ever college upgrade to facilities ever; spending over $30 million to built new soccer, softball and baseball stadiums plus a new football and golf practice facilities, and upgraded the tennis facilities plus oversaw a $35 million renovation of the Sun Dome. What incompetence!!!  USF should have NEVER had to suffer through all this construction, the old facilities were fine!

Thankfully LRS helped get us into the Big East to make it all possible.

Just about every athletic department struggles making hires from time to time. Even Jurich screwed up with Kragthotpe. Florida football ain't doing so hot under Muschamp and USC is probably the biggest disaster in their BB and Football coaching hires in college sports the last several years. Kevin O'neil was horrible and was called (and rightly so) a piece of garbage human being, in national press and Lane Kiffin has been a disaster at every stop. Getting the right guy is not easy for even the best progrsms.

Doug had his faults but was not the terrible AD you guys make him out to be.

I thought Skip was a good hire at the time. The ext he got was the worst decision of Woolards tenure. Skip deserved to get fired.

Heath deserved another year.

IMO the only real mistake Woolard made was the Holtz extension.  Hiring Holtz turned out to be a mistake in hindsight, the extension was even questionable at the time.  Heath seemed like a good hire at the time.

Heath got an extension after taking USF to a place no one ever has. 2 wins into the Tournament. That was deserved.

The last 2 years sucked. You can put one year as injury and the other on non acceptance. Either way he is gone. Good luck Stan
