Marquel Blackwell gone?

I’m hearing Dir. or Player Development Marquel Blackwell & Video Coordinator Jamie DeGerome will not return to USF Football in 2014.

Blackwell was Bulls starting QB from 1999-2002. DeGerome had been with USF Football since its inception in 1996.

Well that stinks, it seems CWT was never really too high on Blackwell for some reason. He waited until the last minute to bring him over from WKU, now it looks like he won't be retaining him here...what's the deal?

Jamie is as good as they come at his job. He'll land somewhere else hopefully. I'm going to follow up with Marquel to find out his prospects of landing another job. The biggest thing Marquel brings to the table is his ability to relate to the high school kids in the Tampa area. Surprised Willie can't see that or maybe he does see it, but doesn't consider those relationships that important in the grand scheme of things.

Agree about Blackwell Sheriff, he's got great connections with the Team Tampa kids...and they are usually some of the top fb prospects in Tampa every year. The kids really seem to like him as well, I don't get it.

Maybe if he had leveraged his existing relationships to get team Tampa kids to USF as a Dir. of  Player Development (I know he can't actively recruit) he would have a job as the QB coach.

It should put up a huge RED flag when neither Leavitt, Skip, or CWT will hire MB as a full time coach.  Yes he may have relationships with the Team Tampa kids as he is one of their Flag football coaches but what kids has it gotten to USF?  I loved him as a player but it seems that noone wants to hire him as a position coach even with his ties to Tampa, which should be concerning.
