  1. What did you see in this game that would lead you to believe things will be better next year? You do realize that Mcfarland and Davis are graduating. Besides those two, the rest of the offense was 1 play by Mack for 75 yards. We only had another 17 yards on ground. That is pretty bad for a run oriented offense. Or was it the 3 timeouts we had to call because Taggart didn't get the plays in until there were only 12 seconds left on the play clock. The majority of the Freshman that are positively contributing are defense. That defense gave up almost 500 yards. There have been at least 3 games where they have given up over 300 yards in a half. I get that the OP likes to look at the bright side of things, but the reality is there doesn't appear to be any positive progression from the coaching staff unless there are major changes to their approach. The freshmen RBs are very good, but even if they improve even more next year, what will that bring to the team. Mack is already the conference rushing leader and we still can't keep games against the top half of the league competitive into the 4th quarter. At this point I see the problems more at the coaching schemes, SITUATIONAL play calling and team preparation than with the talent. How can you say there hasnt been positive progression? We have doubled our win total from last season; +1 progression. Offensive numbers are up accross the board (yards, tds, scoring); +2 progression, Rebuilding a program from the ground up takes time. If you think this was gonna happen over night then you are sadly mistaken and might as well stop reading and posting on message boards as it will just give you a headache. CWT will get atleast 2 more years to right the ship.
  2. So let me get this straight....CWT takes a team that was horrid, weak, lacking heart and using skip's team and most of his recruits goes 2-10 in his first year with a walk on QB and a QB that couldnt take a snap from center that is no longer playing football, a transfer that has never played, and a true freshmen then into his 2nd year with many of the same players from the previous coach, playing almost all of the new freshmen and redshirt freshmen he recruited just to start building for the future even though they are not ready and is 3-5 and will most likely go 4-8 or 5-7 with an outside chance of 6-6 , a 2 to 4 game increase in wins over the previous season and you all dont see progress? What did you think was gonna happen? CWT was gonna come in and magically cure all of Skip's ill doings and change a culture of laziness and losing in 1-2 years? Most of you are out of your everloving minds to expect this was gonna be a quick turn around a 1 year fix.

  4. It should put up a huge RED flag when neither Leavitt, Skip, or CWT will hire MB as a full time coach. Yes he may have relationships with the Team Tampa kids as he is one of their Flag football coaches but what kids has it gotten to USF? I loved him as a player but it seems that noone wants to hire him as a position coach even with his ties to Tampa, which should be concerning.
  5. QB coach is still open...Rumors had it Weinke or Blackwell would get teh job. I doubt it will be blackwell or they would have already made teh annoucement. Weinke has not been contacted by USF as of yet.
  6. From what i heard that both got caught smoking pot by hotel security at the team hotel in Orlando prior to the UCF game.
  7. Have you looked at the recruiting class at all? we still have like 6-9 more spots to fill and we are already movign towards one of if not the highest rated recruiting classes in USF history. We are the #1 of the AAC remaining schools and schools that are coming in. DO SOME RESEARCH!
  8. He isn't a bust yet, but the trajectory points toward that. We are a MUCH worse football team under him than under Skip Holtz in nearly every aspect of play. We said the same thing for 3 years -- needs time to get his players in the system. If we don't make it to a bowl next year or come awfully close then Willie should absolutely be fired as should our AD. Are you really that ignorant or do you just try to stir things up? USF Defense is lightyears ahead of anything skip put on the field with less experience. USF Special Teams has a kicker and coach up for national awards Shaw before he got hurt was on track to rush fr 1k yards. Davis broke the single season record for wr yards in the UCF for a season. We are a better football team now skip is gone but we are left with skips recruits and lack there of. Look at what skip has done to La tech a 9/10 win team last year that averaged over 40+ points per game and went to a bowl game. Now La tech will be lucky to make a bowl game and are averaging less then 20 points a game. Willie has a plan and is implementing it. Look at WKU, Stanford, and 49ers. The method works and it works at all levels. It takes time to get rid of teh crap that was left to him and recruit guys to play in his system. Look how the freshmen are playing and you can already see the difference. 2 ints last night were by freshmen, 3 of the top 4 tacklers last night were freshmen, the qb freshmen, on and on.
  9. fortunately for UCF their recievers can run the correct routes and catach teh ball. Dunkley has all the talent in the world but wont put the work in to learn the routes and put time in working on catching the ball. I can count 4-5 times last night dunkley ran the wrong route or dropped the pass. One route cost a long ball td that he turn in instead of out. Dunkley has speed for days but he can only run one route a go and even then he has troubles knowing whether he should look inside or outside for the ball.
  10. So heres the thing....USF is 4-0 against UCF. They have never beaten us in the history of the series. Why shouldnt we be arrogant? We are have been and are superior, history and the record books prove it! Now tonight if/when UCF beats us they will 1-4 against USF. We will still be superior as the above mentioned record book and history will still prove it. However the game has not been played yet and anything can happen in a rivalry game. A win by the rebuilding Bulls in the biggest season that UCF has ever had will be even sweeter. The game has yet to be played and afterword it will still only be one game int he grand scheme of the history of the USF/UCF rivalry where USF has dominated. One game will not change it!
  11. He was competitive with Georgia Southern late in the season with lots of injuries. CWT had all off-season to prepare and got his rear handed to him in our 1-AA! It is looking more and more like firing Skip Holtz last season was a bad call - not just Muschamp but there are going to be lots of other coaches available this coming year. We likely win 1 or 2 more games this season with Skip and spend a lot less money! Rob i am sorry but that is probably the dumbest thing to come out of a smart guys mouth ever.
  12. rational thought on this board....blasphamy!!!!
  13. I dont agree. If we get into a P5 our recruiting will sky rocket with the talent surrounding us that leave to go play in other P5 teams because of the preception of big time football. There will be growing pains for sure but you cant compare WVU to us since they are in WV and recruiting in their back yard is not great. No matter the conference they will have to travel to recruit, USF wouldnt have that issue. You say five years isnt that long in the scheme of things ...that may be true or the P5 conferences in the next few years say f off to the NCAA and create their own leauge then we are up a creek so to speak.
  14. if he puts on 40 pounds there is now way in hell he is OLB at 290-300
  15. ok if anyone wants a mouse click program let me know...i use it a few times a day on it so i dont get carpeltunel =)
  16. As in almost everything you post you are completely wrong. #1 skip is not getting millions a year. His buyout was 500k a year. #2 This D2 type coach you speak of that has not only been mentored by the Haurbaughs (who all started at d2 schools) was pretty successful at Stanford if memory serves me. CWT has been a winner everywhere he has gone USF will be no different. How can you point at Skip and say look at what he did at ECU and now LaTech and see the transformation of ECU now 3 years after he is gone and then say CWT cant do it after only 4 games. You are a hypocrite. You cant point to the success of ECU after skip and then say USF cant do it with CWT. You cant have it both ways after 4 games.
  17. Sorry Bubba but our total talent level is not there. Skip left the cupboard pretty bare. We have about 10-15 guys that Skip brought in whether walkon or on schollie that would make a D1 team.
  18. Jtrue sorry but how much I do or do not donate to the program has nothing to do with how much of a fan I am. I was there in 97 for the 1st game as a soph and have been a season ticket holder until this year. I have donate not only money in the past, but my time. How dare you say who is or isnt a true fan. I have read you negative comments over and over and over...my friend (i use the term loosely) that is not a true fan. A true fan loves and supports their team through the good and the bad. They cheer whether they win or lose as that is what true fans do. They support the program when they are rebuilding while dreaming of better days to come. A true fan is not one to negatively comment of every little thing that goes wrong, a true fan does not boo his team, a true fan shows up rain or shine, cheers with all they have no matter what. I am sick and tired of all the negative and complaining. Yes the team is down. We are rebuilding get over it. It may take 2-3 years to get the virus of skip holtz's effect out of USF but it will happen and CWT is the man to do it. Thank you Mike as you get it. I just wish more "fans" got it. We are not Alabama, Florida, Texas, USC, we are USF a 16 year old program that is rebuilding for the first time and as much as it sucks it is a process. Deal with it as a true fan would and support your team in any way you can. Cheer loud, look for the progress, the little steps each week that show you what this program can be. just my 2 cent
  19. Yup CJL built a team from scratch, and after 3 years of planning, building, recruiting, and taking the field he hung 80 on the worst team in college football. And after 8 months, with only a handful of his players he recruited, CWT has us at 0-3. Yeah its a fair comparison....sigh
  20. 1-2 and after 4 games he was 1-3. We beat Kentucky westlyn (sp) then lost the next 3 in a row. We went 5-6 in our 1st year. CJL had 3 years to build a team, teach them his ways, his schemes, recruit, etc. People stop having unrealistic outlooks and expectations. It will take time to rebuild what CJL started adn what Skippy Destroyed
  21. Yeah and it took CJL 10 years to get to #2 in the polls. Besides that shinning example of USF football what else did he accomplish on the field. He won games, yes. Titles, no. End of year rankings, no. But hey lets give CWT 3 games to do the same as what took CJL 10 years to build and what took skip 3 years to destroy. Yeah that is fair, I think 3 games is enough. Hell I mean lets Fire CWT now and the next coach only gets 1 game to fix all the issues....sigh. Some of you are so unrealistic its truly laughable.
  22. You forgot FIT they played and beat Stetson in their first game ever
  23. Its a % and odds game. If you kick the PAT you have a chance at scoring again and can tie the game with a score and 2pt conversion. However if you go for 2 there and make it you are in the same boat and still have to score another TD, but if you miss the 2pt you are down 2 scores and your chances to tie are drastically reduced. Its risk vs reward. You risk everything by going for 2 with no real reward because if you take the safe/correct choice you are still in need of a TD. Risk vs Reward. Skippy is the worst coach in football! It's not a risk vs reward. He has no choice but to go for 2 on either the present TD or the next one. The next TD missing the 2 would still make add another possession. Either way he has no choice but to go for 2 eventually. What he gains or losses by going for 2 when after a TD when down by 8 or when down by 15, the consequences of failing to convert are the same. +1 THEY ARE NOT THE SAME. The consequences are much different in perceived outcome of the game to his team. As soon as the missed the 2pt conversion the game is over in basically they have nothing to play for. they are down 2 scores with 4 mins left a very improbable situation to come back from. They kick the PAT they think in their heads that they can stil do this thing down 1 score. Its like when USF was down last year by like 2-3 td with Skip and on 4th and whatever he kicked a FG. Yeah USF needed points but a FG doesnt get you to the end result you want. 3 points was as good as 0 points in that situation so you have to go for it. SKip is a horrible coach and game manager. He proves it over and over again.
  24. EXACTLY! Gismo I am sry but you are completely wrong. Is does matter when you go for 2. Going for 2 then and not converting basically says to his team game over, might as well give up cause getting 2 scores in 4 mins is not gonna happen. Getting the PAT and being down 8 he can motivate his team to say hey we are only down a score, lets get this in the endzone and tie this game. Its all about momentum, motivation, perceived results. Ask any coach what is to be done in that situation and they say you kick the PAT, any coach not named SKip.
