we are not going bowling this year. what's the point in burning a kids redshirt? for the longshot chance that he is better than Bench? to go 4-8 instead of 3-9? i dont get it.

We don't know that yet.  I've always have said only play White if he has a chance to save the season and get us to at least 6 wins.

Coach T mentioned Eveld was focused on the rush against Uconn and missing open players, I think this further supports my suspicions that he was not 100% and therefore was not seeing the field as well as he normally does.

Or it supports the position that Eveld was playing scared.

Watching the post game interview Coach T was deflecting criticism of Eveld, such as "that wasn't Bobby" etc. I am pretty sure Eveld was playing a little hurt this past Sat. against Uconn. Right before the Uconn game I believe I saw him limping a bit and he was definitely hurt at the end of the Cinci game with all those shots he took. Eveld is no runner but against Cinci he was making some plays with his feet. Coach T mentioned Eveld was focused on the rush against Uconn and missing open players, I think this further supports my suspicions that he was not 100% and therefore was not seeing the field as well as he normally does. I mean he's no butterfly but he look less graceful then usual ;)

I bring this up b/c during the game I was calling for White at the half but the fact that Eveld came back out makes me think that White is not ready. Its idiotic to think its b/c they don't want to burn his redshirt. They will put in whoever gives them the best change to win. I mean I am sure Taggart was looking at Uconn's frosh and was thinking I sure would like to have him over here slinging the roc. The fact that Eveld was out there playing at <100% means that White's not ready. Whether he need's to learn the plays, needs to put on some weight, whatever he's just not ready. The only way you see him go is if both Bench and Eveld go down...just my two cents.

We are not going to burn a red shirt on this train wreck of a season.

Bench is our guy this year, and he will be back in time for Houston.

If we play our cards right we could go 7-1 in conference play for the first time ever.

The one thing that will hurt us going forward is if we have to play from behind more than one score and we need to pass more.  It seems to me that our QBs (all 3 that have played) have a hard time reading coverage.  Countless times I have seen them not noticing a blitz coming and looking for your check down or even, dare I say, audible!

We are not in total disagreement in that you put in whoever gives you the best shot at winning, and I do think that is Bench.

But how about this take... If I am CWT, I am  fully aware of Holtz' tenure, the current landscape of CFB realignments, I am thinking I need to get this team winning now. If White gives you the best shot to win now, I put him in now. IMO even if I think he is only slightly behind but has the most upside of all the QB's I put him in now, let him take his lumps, so that we are in a good position to win next year.

The fact that Eveld started against Uconn even though he was not 100% makes me believe White needs more time and that is what is keeping him out. No point in "saving" a redshirt if you arse is burned in a couple of years...

It's funny how so many continue to call for "the other guy" when no one knew anything about the "other guy (QB)".  Everyone wanted Floyd and spoke glowingly about his abilities, etc.. and then we saw the performance.  Eveld returns, granted without much success, and everyone wanted Bench.  Bench came in and during the FAU game and completed a poor 9 of 23 passes (39% comp).  Bench did improve in the Miami game, but didn't set the world on fire either going 13 of 27 (48% comp).  Now, Bench goes down to injury, Eveld is back in and now many believe that White's the answer without seeing the guy play even in a spring game.  USF has used 3 different QBs so far, and the results are about the same - although I think Bench performs overall better than the others.  So, there's more going on here with their lackluster passing attack than just the QB.  Let's figure that out and fix it before we throw in yet another QB and maybe doing that before he's ready.

You make this sound as if it's a given that he'll be gone after a couple years.

IMO, we have got to stop making assumptions like that, or like the assumption that burning White's redshirt is going to solve all our woes. It's just so funny how so many of us assume an unknown, untested QB just out of high school is automatically the answer just because he hasn't had a chance to instantly be amazing (or fail).

Roll with Bench first and then Eveld the rest of the way, hope we can get another solid QB recruit in the offseason and throw White into the mix next year to see what happens.

Exactly.  I'm in total agreement.  Stay with Bench and Eveld and work on finding answers on the offense and provide some stability there.  Let it roll, and there will be more successes (wins) and the offense will finally click at some point soon.  In order to get there though, IMO, Taggart needs to bring in Willie Davis and run him more and I think there needs to be some changes at WR such that one or two others who can catch a pass get a chance at performing.  Unfortunately, it appears that while Dunkley has the athleticism, he's lacking the mental aspect to work within Coach T's offense or something.  It's odd that Dunk doesn't get more playing time when the other WRs continue to under-perform???

As an expert on this subject, since I play a lot of NCAA footbalI on PlayStation, I would keep the redshirt on him. Let's say Eveld is a 65 in skill, Bench is about a 67 (he can run a little), and Floyd is probably a 55. What would White have to be to make this a decent move? Even if he's a 70, would that really be worth it? White as a 5th year senior, even unknown, is worth more on potential than anything he can do for this team right now.

we are not going bowling this year.

We can win 4 of 6 in this league.

Not if we play like we did Saturday. That game looked every bit of two of worst teams in college football.

I'd just like to see us knock off UCF or UL. A bowl game is very unrealistic
