Do we know the "extent" of Bench's injury?

USF has been VERY light on the twitter front. I know that we were off this week, but I expected more than a couple this weekend. Take it for what it's worth (which of course is absolutely nothing). :)

Swung by practice this afternoon for a few minutes this afternoon but they were practicing on the western most fields so really couldn't see much. Did see a couple of red topped helmets which I assume means no contact but didn't look like they were #2 or # 20 ...

Next time, go prepared.

Those would be perfect, especially since they look just like real sunglasses and nobody could tell ...

Awesome! They would both give us a nice change of pace against UL

Coach said that Eveld was starting but we may see Bench. He wasn't sure until they practiced this week. Don't see any reason for Eveld to play if Bench is ready to go

Tice is taking first team reps. Bench has a leg brace on but he is jogging alright. Looks like Pierre has been benched.

On his radio show, @CoachTaggart said to look for more of RB Willie Davis -- and perhaps debut of freshman Sta'fon McCray -- vs. Louisville.

Great update, thanks Ninja. Tice & Davis earned the reps, this is just what CWT has been saying about putting the best players on the field. Interesting about McCray, it sounds like he's planning to bench Shaw for UL. Just uninformed guessing...

It would be a mistake to take McCray's red shirt off so far into the season. Let Davis and Tice share the carries all game and try and get into a rhythm. They need all the touches they can get.

It would be a mistake to not take his red shirt off if he can help us win Saturday, and the rest of the season. We have more opportunity to win our conference than 6 of our conference mates.

It may have been this thread or another I asked this but I do not recall seeing it answered. Given that red-shirts are determined at the END of the year how do medical red shirt differ in how they are applied? If we are over stocked with talent, or a player needs time to develop to be able to contribute significantly then red-shirting makes sense but if we are in need and a player can help doesn't it make sense to save his red-shirt in case of injury which is very likely in this sport?
