Hiring Willie Taggart while Bobby Petrino is looking for a job on the cheap is senseless on the part of management at USF. Don't spin Petrino slept with an intern. He paid the price for his f-up at Arkansas and USF was too obtuse to give the guy a second chance. Either way, WKU just beat down Kentucky and we just got our asses handed to us by McCheeseburger State. I'm not saying Coach Taggart won't be a good hire, but Coach Petrino has proven he can win. Heck - the guy really laughing at all of this has to be Calvin McGee. He should have been hired over Skip many years ago. True this.

Not to say Petrino isn't a good coach, but he basically won with Willy Taggarts team did he not? I didn't see any freshman make a huge impact from looking over the box score. Seems like selective memory loss you guys have, USF never was in contention for a conference title, what we all want. Most of those idgets have left USF Football in embarrassment, few have endured getting what they asked for. Fortunately that group was comprised of a few idiots that thought a 10 year old program should own the Big East and the "Natty". Sucks to live the real life after that era of stupid expectations. Say what you want about his tantrums, we used to have on of the top defensive teams in the nation. Offense just needed to keep them in the game. You know, there is seriously something to this. I used to tutor in the Athletic Center during the CJL era, and I remember Coach walking through once when the environment was a little rambunctious; so, not conducive to learning. Coach admonished the entire room, and I can tell you that there was silence in there after that. Every athlete took that dude seriously. From all sports. Which is a bit perplexing given how undisciplined CJL's team often played on the field. Anyway, just a little anecdote. I have faith in Coach Taggart, but do miss CJL's fire.

But I think passing up Al Golden for Skip Holtz will go down as an all time f***up for our program.

I'm hopeful Taggart will get the bus running again, but man he has a long way to go. Looking back won't help us because the past can't be changed, we can only look forward and influence the future. Many people thought Leavitt had plateaued and could not get this team to the next level. Not sure how many more 3-4 BE seasons people (and DW) were going to tolerate. There is no guarantee he would still be here even without choke slap gate. Mediocrity with some moderate success is vastly better than what we've experienced since he's left. We were going to bowl games every year under him and I'm sure we would have continued to do so you forget how much people would ***** about which bowl games we were going to other than the Sun Bowl-- which was just a delayed amount of ******** as people pissed their pants over the results
