I actually did not think this thread would be created for at least another few games.

Doug has done nothing but tried to better the program and doesn't own a crystal ball.

Why? He should've been fired last year.

Took a wrecking ball to a university who was on the rise.

Doesn't matter, no one really cares anymore.

I'd bet if he was fired from here he'd end up at a P5 school in no time.

I don't doubt his intentions for a minute.

However, GMs in the pros don't have crystal balls either but they're held accountable if the team fails regardless.

Now there is more to Athletics than football. But we all know the money sport you need to succeed in is football. He's seen the football program hit rock bottom under his watch.

Firing CJL was a stupid move. It was unnecessary and it hurt the team. Then he made a really bad hire. We don't know yet how this one is going to work out, but last night didn't look too good. And the prez is as guilty as the AD of basically wrecking what used to be a pretty good FB team.

I don't think he isn't trying - he is just an incompetent fool.

"For me, I never considered it that way (as a stepping stone), honestly. When I was offered the head job at South Florida, and I'm sincere about this, I never thought I would ever go anywhere."

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
