Getting trashed on College Football Live

They're discussing Michigan State's early season schedule and they compare us to the likes of WKU and YSU. MSU is using our game as a stepping stone for their offense as they get ready for Notre Lame in week four. My we've fallen fast. I hope our defense gets the memo and maybe takes a step back to 2009 to remember how a defense is suppose to play. Hope they watch the FSU game for sure.

 

What truly sucks about following WKU is the fact MSU will scout prior WKU games from last season and will fully understand Willie T's offense without having to place too much work into things.

His style of West Coast offense is difficult to scout due to all of the wrinkles and the fact that it uses so many audibles and transitions...that is one of the major perks to this style of offense. Other teams will be able to prepare for the philosophy and know that they will see short quick passes, lots of motion, and downhill running...other than that it is hard to gameplan for.

5-7 followed by 3-9 doesn't really warrant any other assessment.  Only those of us with the USF goggles on believe in the miraculous improvement we're all hoping for.

It's the beauty of an early-season game. If we get in their heads from kickoff, we can do to them what we did to the Domers. Just hope our Dline is as strong as Mathies thinks it will be, and hope the Oline is in better shape than projected. So much of this offense depends on a strong line, so we may be hating life if they cave.

Didn't Le'Veon Bell and some others graduate? Everyone is so high on MSU, methinks it could be a dangerous trap game for them.

We've been overlooked before and it has worked out quite well for us in the past.  I remember very clearly... on Gameday in 2003, the talking heads were going on and on about a hotly anticipated mid-season showdown between TCU and Louisville saying "both teams would likely be undefeated" going in and that it could have BCS ramifications - we were set to play BOTH of those teams before they played each other, so we were doubly disrespected.  We proceeded to beat Louisville in double OT and took TCU down to the wire.  Add Louisville (second time), Auburn, Notre Dame, FSU, etc. etc. etc... being overlooked has always been a boon for us since we don't seem to perform well as the favorite.

That analysis is deserved and could also be  beneficial for us. Hopefully it motivates us to step up. I am with Danm on this, it could pose to be a trap game if our boys can get to it in fall camp. I am really hopping Bench or Matt get it figured out by then.
