Just an update. Coach O hasn't been sitting on his hands. In this same article it says Isaiah Briscoe is kind of looking elsewhere but Dwayne Bacon has us in serious consideration

Hope that the pros outweigh the cons and it doesn't come back and bite us - and if it does, hope they are smart enough to change course in the future. It seems like we're doing pretty good all things considered...one 4* committed, in the running for a few more. This kid we probably wouldn't have even been in his top 10 in years past. And if COA coaching the DR team helps land Montero, that will pay off in a good way too. Plus we have no way to know how much he's calling, sending Strickland or others for visits, etc. I've seen enough positives that I think he can dictate his own schedule. No real informed opinion here though...why do you feel he's slipping recruiting-wise?

The door is closed on the Florida talent Under previous regimes, we wouldn't have even been a serious contender for this kid. I'm just glad that this staff is getting back to trying to recruit Florida seriously again. It'll take time for Coach O's staff to endear itself to the local basketball programs, but I think he's got the charisma and hard-work ethic to get that accomplished. We can't keep them all. Hell, UCF "recruiting prodigy" Donnie Jones also wiffed on this kid.

You either get them or you don't get them. Being mentioned doesn't mean a whole lot since the name of the game is to get good players. Losing a local kid of this caliber to Rutgers is really pathetic and just can't happen if you want to build a strong basketball program at USF. Coach O imo should not be coaching the DM team if these are the results. He isn't at UK where recruits will wait him out until he finishes his duties then get back to them. At USF he has to beat down doors as much as legally possible to recruit.

When all the updated rankings come out, I'll be surprised if Santos is a 4* on the site you saw him listed as such. He's a good prospect but a glue type of player and they just aren't going to be highly rated. These 4* players for 2015 that we are supposedly still in the running for is just not there by the latest searches. All those guys have either committed somewhere else or not mentioning USF anymore. If USF can't do anything but hope to land all Dominican players then that's going to be a tough situation to build a program by. So far it hasn't been pretty that's for sure. The fact that he is even being considered by them at this point is quite remarkable, given our overall dreadful basketball history.
