There is a reason it's a club sport in this state There's also a reason it's an official high school sport in Florida. 138 boy's teams and 114 girl's teams. In the NCAA, there are currently 63 men's teams (the nearest is Jacksonville University followed by Duke), and 100 women's (Florida, Jacksonville, and Stetson all being in-state). It's a growing sport in Florida. Water polo is also an official high school sport in Florida, but there are no varsity college water polo teams in Florida. Don't be dissing water polo. This is perhaps the single most physically demanding sport on the planet. I'm not dissing it. My son played varsity high school water polo for 4 years. This boggles my mind - it's Florida, any sport that involves water should be big at every major university, just like hockey is big with most northern schools. I'm amazed by this too. I mean, only one school plays it, but at least it's popular internationally! I kid, I love cricket, but let's try to work on the sports we have now before adding new ones. No thanks. I didn't grow up in an affluent neighborhood when I lived in NY and the majority of the lacrosse players for my high school were far from rich. Looking back, the lacrosse players were mostly white from my high school. However, I wouldn't go as far as saying its a "rich white kids" sport. I grew up in a working class town on the south shore of Long Island, where the richest kids dads were cops. we had one of the best public school lacrosse teams in the nation. This is wrong,

No thanks. A guy by the name of Jim Brown, who played for Syracuse's lax team, was one of the greatest lax players ever.
