Since the membership of this new conference is now Southern heavy , I think it should be somekind of Southern name. Also lets not kid ourselves here, UConn is as good as gone once the ACC gets raided again, so outside of these two teams all of our conference mates are in Dixie with the lone exception of Natti, and Natti basically on the border with Kentucky so they are not really "Northern".

 

My thinking is that since the ACC is gonna get gutted over the next few years, and since college sports are king in the South, why not make a new brand that might get some traction? Sure we might be able to get out and into a gutted ACC, but in the event this does not play out, and the ACC just folds up, we might as well try to position ourselves in the best spot as possible for when this happens.

 

Right now the ACC is the generic SEC, and if the ACC gets gutted there will be room for a new generic SEC. Feel free to shiz all over this view of mine, but I'm trying to make the best of this deal. Its not like I have another choice but to just grin and bear it.

 

Out of the semi-serious names suggested thus far I like the following...

 

NSC - New South Conference

SAC - Southern-Atlantic Conference

AGC - Atlantic-Gulf Conference

GCC - Gulf Coastal Conference

DAC - Dixie Atheltic Conference
