Some people believe that Anthony Woullard's high school career was not what it could/should have been because of the coaches holding him back

and that they held him back because he committed to USF.

Where would he be if he was at a different high school?

Would he be in the Elite 11?

Would he still be at USC?

I think with the potential he showed at the Elite 11 AND a different high school, that he probably would have probably would have had even more exposure and more opportunities for college.

So, the discussion is, how much does a kids high school coach have to do with college exposure?

A ton, no doubt about it.  That is slowly evolving, as schools do more of their own evaluations and it becomes easier with digital video.  But unless a school has the money to hire a team of evaluators to weed through tons of video then high school coaches will always have undo influence.  A coworker of mine had his son exposed to two different high school coaches.  The most recent coach has brought three times as many college coaches in to look at kids, with essentially the same talent level at the school.  Coaches control playing time, and college coaches take the input of high school coaches heavily.  It is easy to sabatoge a kid, and it happens all the time.  Likewise, some high school coaches can get inferior talent to better colleges.  Facts of life.

HS coaches play a great part. So much that kids get moved so they can play for a certain coach. Our star RB when I was at PCHS tried going to Armwood when our HC didn't cave in to his fathers pressure to feature him more. Kid got caught and wasn't allowed to play anymore. Ended up playing at Liberty University.
