Watch your back Duke. +1 .... and then beg the ones leaving to let us in wherever they end up. This^^^ Or just do an athletic department split. Let the basketball program remain somewhat relevant, and let football program go play in the MEAC of Southland conference. To much money has been put into the basketball program to let it just go to waste.

Call it the "big shaft" conference, or the "big wood" conference

Ditto If you think dropping football or down sizing it will be good at all for USF then go and talk to Stetson, Saint Leo, and UT... they did this and now all are trying to bring football back, with Stetson being the first to get it back. Pretty sure Ghost and Trip were joking around, Vega wasn't. This hurts, even though Seton Hall, Providence, Depaul and St. Johns haven't done anything in forever, I still enjoyed watching those games because they do have a name brand compared to the crap we just added (minus Memphis/Temple). Football for them is an afterthought anyway.

The governor of Conn has called in a favor. There has been speculation that ESPN received a large tax break from the state and is now being told it is time to return the favor. Just like Rockefeller did with WVU and McConnell did with UL. ESPN now sees the ACC as an eventual avenue to Notre Dame. Losing control of the ACC could potentially mean losing Notre Dame to the B1G. Just like every conference, ESPN feels Notre Dame is a big prize. http://www.landthieves.com/board/showthread.php?46104-***Conference-Apocalypse-Part-IV-The-NeverEnding-Story&p=990713&viewfull=1#post990713

The B-ball schools are the ones long term that will get hurt. They are trading stabilty for money and prestige. The reality is football drives the bus and we have Willy T at the wheel.
