Anakin was just as lovable as ET before succumbing to the Dark Side ... "Tamplona" was a sign that there were already evil forces at work within.

No, I think ET was Obi-won Konobi and Holtz Anikan. Holtz was the chosen one, the one to lead us out of mediocrity and into the the promised land. But he and evil Sith Lord Cosh have banished us to the dark side, and only ET and Luke Skywalker (YTBD) can save us from the empire.
